The case, and the reply...

...If you can walk to the berry patch, go to a duck farm, and cook it all up in five minutes, well, aren’t you in great shape. But I’m not going to feel bad for buying a box of cereal instead of farming it. FARMING IT. Wheat, waving in the backyard! Wheat, bending to the humble scythe! Wheat, threshed and separated! Wheat! Noble honest home-grown wheat! I admit it would come in handy if you’d been eating hypothetical breakfasts, but when you have actual loaves of bread from the store, you’re less inclined to start the day by firing up the peat-fueled oven and yoking the oxen to grind the grains...

A fun read and the comments are worth a look, too: :wink

This article vaguely reminded me of a website I stumbled across yesterday, designed for people who are actively, self-consciously and rather righteously frugal. Called the Frugal Village or some such. There I found some amusing threads: justifications for remaining on dial-up, for example. I mean, even I'm not on dial-up, and probably haven't been for something like 15 years. Somebody straighten me out if that's technologically impossible, LOL...What do I know?

Anyway, two items from the looney bin to start us off.

Feel free to add your own in-between your hacky sack sessions and your drum circles...
