That's "Gator" in the 200 acre pen. He's 4.5 year old. Not as wide as last year. He also had a drop last year

Ted, I think you build some natural blinds, correct?

When and if you use pop-ups, how early do you set them out and have you had issues with "black holes" (open windows) causing deer to be suspicious?

Also would be interested in any treatment (chemical or otherwise) that you give the blinds to keep them from disintegrating in the sun and inviting for snakes.

We build natural blinds for turkey hunting. We use a few pop-ups for bow hunting deer. Set them up a few weeks early and leave windows open. Deer get used to them pretty quick. Good to sit in blinds for a few days before season so deer get used to scent, etc. I have been sitting in same blind every morning for a week now and deer don't even look my way any more. Does would blow behind me for the 1st 2 days but not any more. I make sure no light comes in from back or sides. Dress in black.

We don't treat them with anything. Sunlight is not usually an issue as we always set them in thick brush. Only issue is rats eating them if they are left out after season.
