Is anyone using one of these cameras? If so, what's your experience with it?

I want a cheaper video camera to set up mainly over trapping sets to get some footage and to use for scouting furbearers.
2.) Swamp Fox - 11/18/2015
Couldn't find that one on the website. Got a link?

I have some new and possibly some used Plotwatchers in Swampy's Swap Shop and Flea Market if you're interested.
3.) Wild Bob - 11/18/2015
I think its a discontinued model.

Do your Plotwatchers shoot video?
4.) Swamp Fox - 11/19/2015
Daytime time-lapse photography, which when streamed together views as if it were video. Worst case scenario you'll get a week's worth of monitoring with 4 AA Duracell Coppertops. Longer coverage by adjusting settings.

See the PW model specs here (for what I have), not the Pro:

I have quite a few WGI trail cameras (one model, discontinued) and have nothing but good things to say about them. (With the exception of one lackadaisical CS interaction the one and only time I needed something) A lot of hate out there for WGI cameras from the usual suspects on AT and the like, but if I had to guess a lot of that is dislike of the owners.

Wild Bob with a scouting camera??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Stay tuned. Next you'll see me in a hunting lease and Deerminator becoming a trophy hunter.

Hahahahaha! Thought it would be neat to get footage of furbearers especially.

Thanks for the info Swampy, I'll think about the PW...but I've got to be honest with you; I was really looking for a true video camera.
8.) Swamp Fox - 11/19/2015
I understand. Plus it would be nice to video at night.

I would be interested in knowing who thinks what cameras are good for video. My newer Bushnells will take short clips, but I'm not high on recommending them over others.

I'm interested in a camera DropzOfWild and I were talking about on here..I think it was a Browning....Maybe I'll do a search...Not sure it videos, but I was interested in the price and the quality of the stills.
9.) Swamp Fox - 11/19/2015
Bob, this is the camera I was thinking about. I am interested in a blackout camera anyway, and this one seems to get good reviews and has been priced attractively.

According to this review, you want to get a 2015 model rather than a 2014.

Video resolution is 1280 x 720 and it does include audio. We have found the daytime videos to be very good; nice color, good clarity and solid contrast. Night videos are a little darker and grainier than the Strike Force, which is to be expected, but overall they are very good. We did dock the night videos because they will only take a maximum of 10 second clips. No matter what you set the video length to be, night videos will only be 10 seconds long.

......
12.) Wild Bob - 11/19/2015
Looks like pretty nice picture quality in that unit.
13.) Wild Bob - 11/19/2015
I don't know...I've got to get my priorities straight before I go spending some money on a camera or two. I'm never going to get that Nitrum I've been eyeing if I don't put back some dinero towards it! :wink
14.) Swamp Fox - 11/20/2015
I know what you mean. Besides, if you need some pictures of raccoons I can get you a ton of them for free, LOL.

I looked up the camera you mentioned. It doesn't look like it's supposed to work as a trail camera. More of an "action cam" (GoPro-type). If you want to set something up over a bait or trap, it doesn't appear to be designed for that.
15.) Wild Bob - 11/20/2015
Yea, you are right Swampy...I looked at it in more detail too after you posted the PW info on here and I realized that too. Then I started looking at others, then I realized just how much I could get into money wise for a decent camera or two...and then I arrived at conclusion that I posted above. I may just do a little more research, but hold off. How's that for getting to China via South America reasoning? :re:

Bumping this up in case anyone has something to say about game cameras they like for video....
17.) Jon - 07/19/2016
I really like my Covert cameras using video mode. I have 5 of them and use 1 in video mode all the time. The quality is great, picture clarity is great and trigger time if great. They aren't cheap but not the most expensive either. I don't think you could go wrong with a Covert camera.
