Son-in-law bumped me to the front of the list, got him back on Christmas eve. Couldn't be happier with the deer or the mount. Buck of a lifetime for me for sure.

That is gorgeous Luv2, very nice mount for sure. That's the fastest I've ever seen one get turned around.
3.) DParker - 12/28/2015
Wow...that is a nice mount. It's just a shame that it was the last deer in PA.

Nice mount Luv3.

There are no deer here, so don't bother coming here to hunt anyone. It totally sucks.
6.) Bob Peck - 12/28/2015
I love the mount. Looks like the taxi did an excellent job!

Not loving the base although I'm betting you ran out of wall space being the premier PA mountain man and all that. You probably had to come up with something so the log coaster and patch-o-moss in the chest seemed like a good idea.

Someday when I kill a deer like yours I'm going to mortgage my family's future and possibly risk divorce to get a mount like this:

Very nice!

You might as well just hang it up, now!

Beautiful Deer & mount Luv2, you are right, you won't ever beat that one, might as well sell your stuff & retire:grin::wink

Yes. My small room with my game/hunting stuff is getting full up, decided to go with some kind of pedestal mount.

I did retire 2 weeks ago. It was on the news and everything...was a pretty big deal. I guess you missed it.
11.) Swamp Fox - 12/28/2015
Bob, I've seen that buck jumping over the railing somewhere before. Do you know where's it's from or the story behind the mount?

I didn't get an answer on my last ArcheryWorld/BowCountry/HuntingCountry trivia question, so I'll throw this one out:

What animal is AW legend Bob Stokes famous for mounting? There could be a prize involved for anyone who can tell us where he wanted to display it, and there's DEFINITELY a prize for anyone who posts a picture of it.

You're several steps ahead of me. Our first house I had a Man Cave, a Full Man Basement and a Man Garage. Second house I had only a Man Garage. Our third and current home, I am resigned to a Man Shed with no heat or lights but it's all mine. Yep. I know. Going the wrong way for sure.

I lobbied my wife for the last 25 years to have a mount somewhere (anywhere) in the house. Until last year the answer was no. Our tightly controlled marital contract (kidding) stipulates her domain is "inside", mine is "outside". Then I got permission for only one mount which I instantly parlayed into 3 (1-deer, 2-turkeys). Now the divorce threats are back if I even so much as suggest any more mounts inside so I'm tapped out.
13.) luv2bowhunt - 12/28/2015
I hear you. Our house has 12 rooms....I get one. The smallest one.

I do but if I tell you, I'll have to kill you and that would mean BC would instantly collapse and nobody wants that do we?

Would it be cheating if I called him and asked?
15.) Swamp Fox - 12/28/2015
I have some marriage advice for you all:

You know it's over when she tells you the only place you can have for yourself is a Walmart tent, as long as it doesn't block the driveway.

LOL to both of those. :-)

I hope he's doing better. Say hey to him for me if you're in touch. I always got a lot out of his posts. :tu:

Ain't it the truth brother. It's a slow incremental encroachment until you just give up. The counter for our bedroom sink is completely full of jewelry, jewelry boxes, hair dryers, curler thingys, makeup, perfume, mirrors etc.
I have only room for a cup. And I'm damned grateful for that.
23.) JimP - 12/28/2015
Great mount Luv!! That guy does great work. He made a mediocre PA buck look like a NY buck.

This is as close as I can come right now Swampy.

25.) Swamp Fox - 12/28/2015

That will win *a* prize, Billy....I always thought that was a most awesome pic! Thanks for the reminder!

Send me your address in case I don't have it stored in my nearly-full PM box...or if the PM box that did have the address went the way of BowCountry itself...LOL

And, for the rest of you playing along at home--since Billy deserves something for that answer--I'll have to bump up the fabulousness of the prize for the person who provides the answer I was really looking for.

Again:

Where did Bob want to display the mount I'm thinking of (and what was the mount)?

and

Provide a pic of the mount for the trumpian Grand Prize, which is really, really terrific...So terrific you won't even be able to believe it...:wink
26.) Swamp Fox - 12/28/2015
Bingo!!!!

Billy wins with a late edit!

Now, for all the marbles, where did Bob say he wanted, or at least was tempted, to display it?

:grin::grin::grin:

Charleton Heston's house?

"Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty bow hunter!!"
28.) Swamp Fox - 12/28/2015
No, but that is a good guess.

I never saw that movie---Even the posters creep me out---so I'm probably not going to get any references beyond "Charleton Heston" LOL

Bluecat prolly will, though...LOL
29.) bluecat - 12/29/2015
"Mama, mama."
30.) bluecat - 12/29/2015
If you get your buck back, would it be considered a rebate?
31.) Jon - 12/29/2015
The absolute best Bob Stokes story was after he shot that monkey thing, he hung it in the game shed and knowing that the trackers were petrified of those monkey things, he asked one of them to go in there. the guy opened the door and saw it, turned around screaming and took off running. I'm sure Bob paid a price for that one.
32.) Wild Bob - 12/29/2015
Luv2...That is awesome! :tu: Beautiful!!

(And I agree, that was super fast!!)

34.) Bob Peck - 12/29/2015
Speaking of Bob Stokes ... here's a hunt he did with his son Bobby last year.

WARNING: Long film with some truly great footage. Nice to see an old friend overcome some health adversity and back in the saddle
35.) Jon - 12/29/2015
Great video, thanks for sharing Bob

Judging by his trophy room, then, Luv2 is a master rebater...

:p
38.) Wild Bob - 12/29/2015
Thanks for sharing Mr. Stokes video. A great video without all the phony macho BS and over the top roo-haa-ha that most commercial videos stink of nowadays...I'd watch more hunting shows if they were made in this manner. It's great to see him and his son enjoying time afield together and focusing the filming on the all good things rather than just running after bragging rights and kill shots. Nice work! :tu:
39.) Lonescout - 12/29/2015
Didn't he want to put it in the bathroom holding up the TP?!?!?
40.) Swamp Fox - 12/29/2015
That's not what I remember, but if you can get a "second", I'll accept it. :tu:

And I might accept it even if you can't get a second, because that sounds like him!

I'll leave the question open through tomorrow and then if no one gets to it by then, I'll say what I remember the day after.

Billy and Lonescout:

Send me your mailing addresses via PM so I can get you your prizes.

The way I remember Bob Stokes' plan for the monkey mount was that he "wanted to" mount it elevated in a pounce pose in the foyer of his home. So the first thing you saw when you walked in the front door was this freaky beast about to jump down on your head and rip your throat out....:-)

That's the way I remember it, anyway, but I'm not ruling out that he also thought it would make a good toilet paper butler in the guest bathroom,,,LMAO! Put the roll on a sterling silver serving tray and have him hold it up right next to the throne...
