i kinda like the looks of the new g5 deadmeat broadhead..

I might look into these as well. I have some of the old G5 mechs from before they started messing with them, and like them a lot. They won't last forever, though.

I haven't picked up on all the differences and similarities yet, though. Maybe somebody will do a post on that, LOL...

From Website:
The Dead Meat mechanical broadhead is constructed from super-tough machined 100 percent stainless-steel to make contact and keep driving deep. Three heavy-duty blades produce unrelenting results by creating a gaping 1.5-inch cutting diameter for short and heavy blood trails.

The design of the Dead Meat is highlighted by the all new SnapLock retaining collar that creates an audible "snap" when each of the three blades is locked securely in place for flawless flight. The SnapLock collar features an integrated clip that marries with a tiny knob on the back side of each blade for quick and secure blade retention. Never again worry about poorly-seated blades or in-flight deployment.
The GRAVE DIGGER starts with a full-size 1-inch fixed-blade head, and the ferrule also includes a set of cross-opening curved mechanical blades that cut an additional 1 3/4 inches. The cross-opening blade design greatly reduces the energy needed to open the blades compared to traditional "over the top" mechanicals on the market.

The GRAVE DIGGER also offers an exclusive fixed-blade mode and can be shot as a 1 inch fixed main blade with 1/2 inch bleeders simply by tightening the set screw on the kickout blades. The mechanical blades can be adjusted to open either easier or harder, depending on the draw weight of the hunter's bow. With it's patented blade retention system, GRAVE DIGGER blades stay closed in fight, but open on impact - every time.
The first pic I saw of this broadhead (introduced last year) had a chisel tip, and I didn't know you could lock the mechanical blades down to shoot in fixed-mode-only. So I thought the whole thing was kinda nutty. Then I found out you could opt for a COC tip and do a lock of the mech blades. At that point, it started to make a little more sense.

I'm still skeptical of the "flies like a mech, cuts like a COC" marketing, though...LOL

i would like to see the g5 in a closed position. i like a cool looking broadhead..

A friend of mine who has gone from arrow company to arrow company, started off as Gm of one (Victory), went to own another (Deer Crossing Archery) and now has started a new broadhead company. This new company is called "Mangle Broadheads". I can't say what he's bringing to the table because he hasn't released anything about it. His name is Bart Lawhorn, he's a Ohio boy, was in the military and the company is in San Diego I believe.

I just googled them and there's a Facebook page which I skimmed, and something on Archery Talk which I'm too lazy to sign in to read. They deep-sixed my password in one of their hacks so it's an open question whether I'll ever have the motivation to re-subscribe over there again, LOL.

AT can rub my puckerer, hate that place and the people who run it. I was one of the first 500 folks on that site and they have just gotten too big for their britches. I will never pay to sell something archery related and all the holier than thou folks on that site can stay lost as far as I'm concerned.
He sent me a quick video he's using as a trailer, doesn't show much and he's not talking. I guess we wait and see what he's up to.
7.) Jon - 01/09/2017
Well, shit. I guess they do have a picture of the heads.

LOL...

Do you know if he's showing at the ATA?

Speaking of which, it was either last year or the year before (possibly both) that I couldn't find any decent/interesting coverage of new products at the ATA. Maybe there weren't any, LOL. My own impression of at least one of those years was that it was indeed a snoozefest.

If somebody on here sees anyone covering the ATA well, or sees anything interesting from the show, help a brother out and post a link. LOL

Huh! The site didn't show up in a Yahoo search, at least not on the first page. (I said Google out of sloppiness.) They need to get their SEG (Search Engine Guy) on that stat.

Thanks for the link.

With regard to new-ish broadheads, Magnus has come out with a Black Hornet (last year I believe) that looks pretty deadly and supposedly flies like their stingers. I own 3 and might try them out on turkey this year.

One thing about any Magnus product, you just don't hear anything negative about them. Plus they take care of their customers.

That Magnus does look like a good turkey head.

The other thing I like about Magnus is that their company people interact on forums. I can't remember the main guy's name (John, maybe) but he used to be all over explaining about differences between designs and sharpening blades and what-not. Maybe he stil is, but I'm not reading a lot of archery forums these days.:shh::p

The only complaint I have about them is that the weights between heads could be more consistent.

Now that I say that, I'm wondering if I've noticed the same problem with G5.

I guess I'm getting a little rusty on details from the olden days when I was knee-deep in set-up trivia, LOL.

My keyboard is going blooey or my internet is taking a dive or everything's frozen including my fingers. (I'm iced in here.) I just had to correct about 10 typos in that last post.

Apologies in advance for anything else I might post today, LOL.

Yes, you are right, they have people that monitor the forums for questions, problems, suggestions etc. They have videos out of various things as well. It's a big company but they operate like a ma and pa shop.

The one thing I've noticed is that the serrated edge on their black hornets (ser-razor) and the stingers (buzzcut) leave devastating holes as compared to the plain blade models. I'm using the serrated blades now.

I have a thread I haven't posted up yet on sharpening their heads.
