My recovery from the stroke I had a couple of months ago has been a steady uphill battle, but I think I am winning!

I still have periods of weakness, times of unsteadiness, bouts with exhaustion and episodes that I can't seem to hold onto things or think straight; but my Doctor says that is natural.

I went to my Doctors appointment yesterday and impressed the heck out of him and all of the nurses. I am still walking with a cane for stability, but I don't drag my right foot anymore, in fact I barely have a slight limp as a reminder that I had a stoke.

The grip in my right hand is still not 100%, but it is getting stronger every day and my Doctor was impressed on how strong of a grip I have when I shake hands. He told me I have a vice like grip.

He checked the radial pulse in my ankles, legs, arms and neck and said that it was perfectly balanced and that he was happy with that. He then looked at my chart and was astounded by my Blood Pressure reading that the nurse had written down. My blood pressure has gone from 150/105 to 110/84! Which is Perfect for a man my age.

I told him about my long walks with my camera and how I have been mowing my lawn. He said for me to keep up the good work and the Fantastic Improvement! He also said that he wished that he had more patients that would work so hard at over coming their health problems, especially those that have had heart attacks and strokes!

I don't have to go back to him for 5 months, unless I have problems or symptoms of a problem. I do have to keep taking my medicines that he prescribed and I also have to have regular blood tests to make sure that I don't develop any side effects from the medicine.

One thing he cautioned me about is to make sure I am careful about sun exposure because of my medicines, but to get back to enjoying my life like I always have done. So all in all, I guess I'm well on the way back to 100% !

Dick
