we all no shu did not step on the qb ankle.. I watched the video over and over again..it was cold and his foot was numb.. which is understandable.. that being said...

LETS GO COWBOYS!!!
2.) Swamp Fox - 01/04/2015
Suh is a thug and always has been. That said, the only thing that makes Dallas a more livable city than Detroit is the fact that there are more girls from Texas there.

I'll have to go for the Cowboys in this game, though it pains me. I hope they show the cheerleaders a lot.

Add Dominic Raiola to the list.
4.) Swamp Fox - 01/05/2015
And strangely enough, both are Cornhuskers. Maybe Crookedeye can explain it. Roid rage? I don't know...Anybody ever seen Crookedeye with roid rage?

5.) bluecat - 01/05/2015
Preparation H will clear that right up.

18.) Deerminator - 01/12/2015
TV football sucks!!!
Ya don't even see the big name, big time and the most promoted, and marketed, " DALLAS CHEERLEADERS" any more.

GO FAST ---TURN LEFT
19.) bluecat - 01/12/2015
I only saw the replay and wasn't there for all the chatter about it. What was the reasoning behind the "no catch"? I watched the replay several times and although I'm not a Dallas fan, I didn't want Green Bay to win because of a bad call.
20.) Swamp Fox - 01/12/2015
I've always had a problem with this type of call. Back in the day, it seemed more clear what was a catch and what was an incomplete and what was a fumble. That's because we used/the rules were common sense.

To me, the bottom lines for passes are/should be:

If you let the ball touch the ground while you are not supporting it, or you use the ground to catch the ball....incomplete.

If you hit the ground and the ball comes loose...incomplete... if you didn't have possession to make a catch (and don't tell me we need a 600-word explanation of what "possession" is).

If you hit the ground and the ball comes loose after you had possession...fumble!.

I guess I'll read later on today about all the analysis, but if someone's looking for more info I think they could look up "Calvin Johnson rule."

Thank you! I've been complaining about this for years! And when they do show the cheeerleaders, they're behind those big honkin promotional/advertising graphics banners, so all you can see is that there's cheerleaders back there...It's possible they could be female...
22.) Swamp Fox - 01/12/2015
Harumph!

So what was the reasoning behind the no catch? He looked to me like he caught the ball and ran a few steps and then attempted to stretch out over the goal line. What was the mumbo jumbo referee talk on why that wasn't a catch? I really hadn't heard.
24.) Swamp Fox - 01/12/2015
The mumbo jumbo is just that...mumbo jumbo. If defies explanation, but here's about as good an outline of the two positions as you'll get.

http://www.foxsports.com/southwest/story/bryant-s-overturned-catch-proves-to-be-too-good-for-rules-011115

As I said, some of the new rules are nonsense, and this is a prime example.
25.) Alex - 01/12/2015
meh... Bryant got caught trying to be a hero. Rule number one is you control the ball first and last.
Had he made the catch and held it against his chest they would have had 1st and goal on the 1.
Had he put both hands on it when outstretched it would have been considered a football move.
Had he held it to his chest and then stretched it out... same thing.

But there was no time for that. It was an all in one maneuver and he paid the price for it.

Games are not won and lost on one call. Anyone that suggests otherwise is selling something.

And I hate the packers.. would love to see them going home for the season. But the rule had been held up this way all season. If you dont show clear control of the ball before it touches the ground it's incomplete. Doesnt matter if its over the goal line or the 50.

Too bad he had to be the hero too. It was a great catch and would have almost certainly won them the game in followup plays.
26.) Swamp Fox - 01/12/2015
Wasn't there some horrendously wrong call on a pass to the endzone that went against Green Bay last year or the year before? Or maybe it went for them... Playing against Seattle maybe? Or maybe it was a college game? Boise State?
27.) Alex - 01/12/2015
Dont recall that. Good point though. Sometimes they go your way.. sometimes not. With all the fancy 120 frames per second recording it still comes down to some simple basics.

You don't pick a fumble up and run, you fall on it. Control the ball.
You don't turn downfield to run after the catch before you catch it. Control the ball.
And you don't stick the ball out in front of you with no protection for it until you have... cmon... we all know.

Control the ball.

Got to give Romo credit though.. he didnt whine about it.
28.) bluecat - 01/12/2015
Sounds like "control" the ball cannot be done with one hand...
29.) Swamp Fox - 01/12/2015
The way I saw it (and I just looked at some crappy video to confirm---I wish I could find a video that's not jerky...or maybe I have a buffering problem today) he caught the ball with two hands and shifted to one, which is enough for me to declare possession, but he also takes at least two deliberate strides, which should seal the deal.

If it had been me, or this were the old days, I would have called it a completed catch with a fumble at the end.

I do think the rule's going to be different next year. Romo and Jason Garrett were stand-up guys about it. Haven't seen what Dez had to say.

This is a pretty good article, with a quote from the rule book:
