the kook-a-buck could be sweet but way to expensive

dry ice works just fine at the fraction of the cost

Okay, I finally figured that out...Kool-A-Buck...LOL...Portable walk-in cooler for hanging game, etc.

Sometimes any kind of ice is a long drive away, especially dry ice. I've hunted a few spots even here in the Southeast where I could waste 3/4 of a day boating, hiking or even simply driving to go get ice. I thought about bringing ice in with me but never managed to see my way clear to actually doing it.

Here are some climbing sticks and treesteps that have potential for somebody...The sticks are supposed to be quiet-packing since they minimize (eliminate?) metal-to-metal contact when they stack together. The steps are a take-off on an old idea I use a fair amount myself.

Wake me up when they come up with a 6-stick quiver. I don't think you can stack sticks on top of one another to expand capacity. If you could, you'd think they'd say so.

But for some people who can hunt low, or who can leave some sticks in the tree and remove just the lower ones when they leave, this might be something.

Packing 10# of sticks plus a stand just isn't my cup of tea unless I'm going back out to get a shower and come back later.

Thoughts?

Hunting/blind chairs:

If you thought a 12- pound $250 chair wasn't for you, how about a 16-pound seat for $99 (shipped)? I like my Huntmore, with a few reservations, but the company's up for sale and you no what that means...Once again, someone has stopped making something I like.

I'd like to give this a test drive, though I can't see 16 el bees being very user-friendly for most people who are at least semi-mobile.

It swivels, but the back does not, so good luck with that. The seat height is adjustable, as are each of the legs.

I like the folding step, strap on stick sections ( 3-4 ft sections ), climbing thingy. But WAY TOO exspencive.
I use the old Ameristep tye on folding steps ALOT:tu:There's usawally 1 or 2 in my pack. small, not too heavy.

I think it is a good idea. Practical maybe not. I can put a bungee cord around some sticks and I'm good to go. I don't like the sticks because I'm always needing to have two feet at the same height as I'm fastening my stand or something else. I'm just curious why no one else notices or needs this. :cf:
22.) Deerminator - 01/21/2015
Isn't the top section flat across the top?
I'm like a monkey. Hang by one hand and a leg.:-)
23.) Swamp Fox - 01/21/2015
Some sticks do have two steps (one on either side) for precisely the reason Bluecat would like that idea. I'm blanking on a set of *folding* sticks that does that, but I'll think on it some more. I have carried a single fixed section with two top steps in with me on occasion, but mostly I'm so used to standing on one leg it doesn't bother me on anything less than the most difficult set-ups. I do make sure I'm wearing boots with a stiff sole in front of my heel, though, when I'm going to hang a stand (with screw-in steps, especially). Most boots are at least passable, but some are way too soft.
