1.) Wild Bob - 02/20/2015
Anyone finding any yet?
2.) Swamp Fox - 02/20/2015
It's time here. I've always had much better luck after mid-February, even though there's no doubt some bucks lose their headgear as early as Jan around here.

My anecdotal and trail camera evidence, though, indicates that it's not until after Valentine's Day that your odds of finding anything make it worth the time to look.
3.) Wild Bob - 02/25/2015
Well...I went out twice, just little short jaunts as I'm not quite back up to snuff for long hikes and found zip. And now last night and today, we've gotten fresh snow - so it might be a while before I can look again.
4.) DropzOfWild - 02/25/2015
Same here... it's about that time but due to the weather it's making it a little difficult to make it out... wanted to get out this weekend and still may depending on the amount of weather we collect tonight into tomorrow. Good luck to those looking
5.) ARCHERXP - 02/27/2015
I don't know when elk drop sheds, but I hope to find some
6.) Deerminator - 02/27/2015
We have WAY tooo much snow to find any around here.
7.) Hunter - 02/27/2015
Still not many bucks dropping here yet
8.) crookedeye - 03/01/2015
I seen small bucks with antlers during turkey season..late march..
9.) Swamp Fox - 03/01/2015
Is that fairly consistent or is that outside the norm?

My understanding is that how early or late a buck sheds is a function of nutrition, maybe the mineral content of the diet?

It's hard to find sheds here between the underbrush and the rodents, but Jan is too early for the effort, late Feb. seems right some years, and other years you get completely skunked on finding any.

I seen them with numbs on there head in early spring..one came into my T2 blind about 6 foot away and his numbs were a 1 1/2...really neat.

LOL...One of my favorite pick-ups is a little spike, about three or three and a half inches. I show it to people when they ask me about my quality deer management program...
12.) crookedeye - 03/01/2015
my brotherlaw shot one this year..his antlers were like 3"..i was like you dick!..i already had the cards out and whiskeys poured...guess who had to drag it out??
13.) crookedeye - 03/01/2015
I should tell the whole story... I was sitting in the motel.. I think it was Mondaynight football to..

he loves to keep his streak alive..lol
14.) crookedeye - 03/01/2015
the thing about it ..is my buddys are so out of shape...its usually me and my brotherlaw who drag the deer out..have you ever drug a deer out in the dark with someone that doesn't want to do it? in some thick azz area?? and south could be north??
15.) crookedeye - 03/01/2015
if we shoot one at night..theres usally 4 of us..thinking we'll all give a hand on getting the deer out..you'd think it would be easier with 4 guys..but trust me it isn't..one of my buddy's he's like one of those guys that went on the deliverance canoe trip that shouldnt have been there..he's more in the way then helping..lol
16.) crookedeye - 03/01/2015
once its all done and the deer is hangin..

that's what its all about..
17.) DropzOfWild - 03/02/2015
Two years ago I seen a buck with still half a rack in mid April during Turkey season... They say everything is to do with nutrition or moon phases..nothing I have witnessed supports either with consistency

Can't fix this for you.

:shh:

LOL
20.) Wild Bob - 03/17/2015
Found this little one over the weekend...nothing exciting, but I guess its a start.
21.) bluecat - 03/17/2015
Finding a shed is always a cool thing.
22.) Wild Bob - 03/20/2015
A couple more mule deer sheds I picked up...

The first one is nothing to write home about, but I wish the bottom one in the picture wasn't broken. I think it would have been a pretty nice find for this area but it's tough to tell with the G2 and G3's both broken off. Also, I think you can see it, but the diameter of that bottom rack's main beam is fairly thick (compare to dog's legs to left).
