Bet you thought twice before opening this thread....:-)

I have a string for which I believe the serving is too fat. Way too tight on Firenocks and my regular Eastons. Assuming I don't have to have the string re-served, are there some other nocks I should try?

I know, "Google it", but I thought I'd ask here first just for S&Gs.
2.) bluecat - 03/02/2015
You want smaller nockers? Blasphemy.
3.) Swamp Fox - 03/02/2015
No, that's the thing. I need to associate with bigger nockers....

Try to keep up. LOL :-)

Well you've come to the right place then.

LOL...

Low Tech Alert!

Just a thought, have you thought of taking an emery board/nail file and just filing it down a little.

Yeah but won't that damage the serving?
8.) Swamp Fox - 03/02/2015
LOL

I thought of it, but I definitely wouldn't want to do it on the Firenocks. I think they're a little brittle as it is, and I wouldn't want to remove any material.

I've seen threads while out and about over time about looser and tighter nocks, but the different brands never stuck in my head.
9.) Hunter - 03/02/2015
Put nocks in hot water then spread them a little?
10.) Swamp Fox - 03/02/2015
That's an idea...
11.) Swamp Fox - 03/02/2015
Just to put it out there, we're talking extraordinarily tight, not just a bit more than normal tight. It wouldn't surprise me if there is a target nock out there that's designed to slip off the string more easily. That might be the kind of thing I need.
12.) Deerminator - 03/02/2015
try a file on the inside of the knock. ya only need .002
13.) bluecat - 03/03/2015
As easy as it is to reserve, you might consider just getting some small diameter serving thread and reserving the area.
14.) DropzOfWild - 07/12/2015
I reserved myself....

Are the strings new? If so, it's possible that the string maker served them with thicker center serving. If it's too fat for ALL nocks you have, it's the serving. If it's too fat for just the Fiyaaaanocks, it's the crap nocks you spent $127.50 on for no good reason. Sand the nock down with fine paper.
17.) Swamp Fox - 07/13/2015
It's too fat for the Eastons, too, which is what made me think the serving needed to be re-done. It's hard to imagine somebody served this string like this on purpose unless there's a nock out there that the previous owner knew would work. Seems like a rookie mistake to me, though.
18.) Jon - 07/13/2015
Who did the strings?
19.) Swamp Fox - 07/13/2015
I don't know. I bought the bow from a Strother sales rep, but it's not one of "their" strings.
20.) bluecat - 07/13/2015

I think those nockers will fit the Eastons.

"I don't know how you guys walk around with those things..."
