Checked cameras for the first time, not too bad. I really like the elevated view, the second pic is so much better from this vantage point.

Hopefully this helps you get in the mood for the season.

Great pics. You can really tell they were shedding.

Do you have the camera up in a tree? Looks like some promising bucks in your woods. What minerals do you have on the stump?
4.) billy b - 08/11/2015
Gerry it has been my experience that if I had a bunch of buck pics together, when horns harden they pretty much move out to rut, then come back the the same place after rutting activity has stopped. I hope that's not the case for you. My feeders & attractants were placed where I found the best doe activity. Those are some nice bucks, hunt early & often before the rut. Good luck buddy, you are due, if you need help, yell at me:wink

I keep my cameras up 9 or 10 feet. Keeps them from walking off on the State Forest. Just Buck Jam Apple flavor on the stump.

Good observation billy, I see the same things. I will get pics of these bucks up until the last week of Sept. or so, then they disperse. I have learned not to hunt where the bucks Summer range is. I will hang my stands in areas where I get more doe pics, just like you said.

I always need help billy, come up and show me how it's done. I would carry you in and hoist you up the tree if I had to....or have a hernia trying.:tu:

Wait, these cameras must be setup in either WV or NJ because erryone knows there's no deer in Pa
9.) luv2bowhunt - 08/12/2015
Well there are some deer now, but it's a long story.

You see the PA Game Comm. was in bed with the insurance companies, who were tired of paying out those big pricey claims for all the deer/vehicle collisions. So they went out and made a deal with some unnamed western states and had coyotes brought in to reduce the deer herd. None of this can be verified at all but it most certainly happened. I guy I know heard of a guy that somebody knows that he saw a truck load of coyotes that were headed for PA.

Then Gary Alt came along, who was secretly working with the DEP, and convinced us all that the forests were being destroyed by the deer. So they drastically increased the doe tag allocations to get rid of the deer and simultaneously please both the insurance companies and DEP. Antler restrictions were the carrot they dangled in front of us to get us on board with the program.

But it all worked too well, and now they've had to back off on the doe licenses and shorten some seasons to get the population back up.

Sounds far fetched I know, but the goobers around here are convinced of it. Also, Elvis is not dead, we never landed on the moon, and the Ark of the Covenant is in a warehouse outside of D.C.

Where in hell are the other 125 rounds of scouting pics Hillary(Gerry)?
11.) Swamp Fox - 08/12/2015
He also hasn't explained the mountain lions...:wink
12.) Jon - 08/13/2015
The stories I hear from the PA goobers are just about as far fetched as the one you just told. Dr. Alt was a saving grace for the deer hunters even though they wanted to kill him. Probably lucky he left when he did.
