:-)...

Every time we take a road trip somewhere and see a sign for a restaurant featuring "Ho-made" food I always want to stop at one and ask to meet the ho that made it. But then the idea of being vastly outnumbered and a long way from home kicks in and...

Maybe some day.
4.) Swamp Fox - 08/21/2015
I like to stop for biold peanuts whenever I see a sign....

The price of good roadside food is eternal viligance (with apologies to king mackerel and SC fishing piers)...Keep your eyes peeled.

You never know when you'll come across some tasty bugers...
5.) Swamp Fox - 08/21/2015
We've had some monuments defaced around here by farmers selling a new variety of ho-grown tomatoes...

I'd like to see if black lives 'maters compare favorably to fried green tomaters....

Mmm hmmm...

Also, I was thinkin' I could use me another couple cans'o that potted meat if ya got any extree...

All Maters Matter.
8.) Swamp Fox - 08/21/2015
I don't know...I could take a pass on most of them you find in the grocery store, LOL...

On the other hand, I saw a Piggly Wiggly the other day that had a sign in the window advertising a sale on pork lions....So I might have to stop in just to see the carnage...
9.) bluecat - 08/21/2015
Lol!

Speaking of boiled peanuts, how many of you have tried them, & how many like them?
11.) bluecat - 08/21/2015
I've not tried them.

However, there was an eatery I went to one time that had the "freshiest" fries. So, you know I had to try them.

Meh, they were okay.
12.) Swamp Fox - 08/21/2015
I like 'em, but if I can find a bag of Corn Nuts, I'll eat them first! :wink

:tu:

13.) Swamp Fox - 08/21/2015
Raw fries...Who else has them? ...A lot of times that's what you need to order if a place can't cook regular fries without drowning them in oil and serving them greasy, heavy, floppy and dripping...
14.) bluecat - 08/21/2015
I think boiled peanuts is a southern thing. I used to see signs for them in ma and pa stores when I was in Mississippi. I should have tried them then. I haven't seen them north of the mason dixon.

I couldn't get myself to try the hog maws though. Somebody help me on this one. Cheeks?
15.) Swamp Fox - 08/21/2015
Cheeks are "jowl". Maw is the lining of the stomach.

I've only had jowl that I know of, but somebody may have slipped me some maw at some point, LOL. I had a client who liked to take me to soul food joints every once in a while just to see how I'd act under pressure, LOL.

(P.S. ---I guess I did Okay, because he's still a client...) :wink
16.) Swamp Fox - 08/21/2015
Speaking of pig parts, where's Luv2 when you need him to chime in on scrapple and hog jello and such...Ja?

Why were there Massachusetts and Pennsylvania stores in Mississippi?
18.) billy b - 08/21/2015
You are right Bluecat, I was born in Miss. at a very early age:wink, I still boil a couple pounds every Christmas, my son & grandchildren all like them. Don't make the mistake of buying the canned ones, they don't even resemble the taste of fresh boiled ones. Now I wish I had about a half pound right now.
