1.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Same thing happened to me on a couple of threads a while back...Remember one of the pirate threads?

Alex tried to blame me...His explanation went right over my head...LOL

From my end, I can see some (?) recent replies on the forum page but can't scroll down or even access the reply box on the thread itself.

Alex will have to jiggle things....I mean jigger things, to get it to work....The thread, I mean...
2.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Try deleting your last posts and reentering them....Seems to me I remember now Alex saying there was something hinky about how a picture or video was entered...Though I told him it was entered the same way I always enter them...as far as I knew....
3.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
It'd be a shame if that thread is locked up for too long...Somebody gave it five stars...LOL
4.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
I tried to but I don't have access to delete or modify the post. The buttons don't show up. I figured the youtube clip hosed it up but I don't know what to do about it.
5.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
Damn, there were like four people on at the same time too!
6.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015

I think Alex has to clean it up at this point....Do you want to ring the bell, or should I? LOL

Maybe we should PM Luv2....He likes this kind of stuff....:wink
7.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
I think it's a tag that got left open so it is all bollocksed up.
8.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
.....
9.) luv2bowhunt - 09/29/2015

10.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
Luv2 just senses when there is something wrong doesn't he? It's uncanny.
11.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
LOL...
Who in the world would give this guy extra scrutiny at the airport?
Extra scrutiny, no, extra crispy, yes.
13.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
I outsmarted the puter.
14.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Is that where you started to have problems? It was after the Seinfeld video for me.
15.) luv2bowhunt - 09/29/2015
Alex is not going to help you. We're all alone now ....Wales.
16.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
Is that where you started to have problems? It was after the Seinfeld video for me.
Yes, the insertion of the youtube clip probably left a tag open and that compromised the underlying html. Have no way to fix/edit/delete it.
17.) luv2bowhunt - 09/29/2015
Did you insert a video in the title block? I did that once, whole site screeched to a halt.

Alex almost banned me, gave me a final last warning..........again. He was steamed.

I miss that guy.

Go back to your movie. Nothing to see here.
19.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
I don't understand how a tag---whatever that is---gets left open---whatever that is---when I'm convinced all I did when I had the problem was the usual copy/paste in the usual way. I'll report this thread and we'll see if the Maestro can join us.
20.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
Thanks. My bad.
21.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
Until then I'm going to have a half a cup of V-8 and do 3 pushups.
22.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Don't let the bastards grind you down...:wink
23.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Smoke signal sent....
24.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
I'm gonna go back now and copy all my best posts to a back-up disk---whatever that is---in case this is a sign the whole ship is going down...

Shouldn't take too long...

:wink
25.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
Do you think he'll make me write on the blackboard?

Man, Catholic penance has really gotten weirdly creative these days.

:wink
Make sure you backup, "F&*( you and the horse you rode in on". Now that would be a tragedy.
29.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
Man, Catholic penance has really gotten weirdly creative these days.
It's a new regimen I came up with. Trying to pace myself though.
30.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Not to be a buzzkill, but here's a serious question: How would an individual back-up, save or copy a thread or a page so that if there were a problem with the site that prevented him from accessing, he could at least pull up the text?

I know there is a way to preserve messages from your PM in- and out-boxes (which I barely understand and sometimes accidentally delete anyway, LOL)...Is there something similar for forum posts (other than "manual" copy/paste to a Word doc, say)?
31.) bluecat - 09/29/2015
This isn't eloquent, but if you right click on the page and go to "view source", you'll see all underlying html. There's a lot of stuff there you wouldn't want to save, so I don't know if it would be worth your time.
32.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Gotcha...I guess you'd just copy paste all that gobbledygook to an open document anyway? I don't see a "save html" button like what I think I remember from PM's?

So really, if you wanted to save a post, it seems like the easiest thing to do is to just copy it the way you copy anything else?
33.) bluecat - 09/29/2015

Yes, I believe that would be the only way. If you posted all that code to an open document, it wouldn't know how to interpret half that stuff, so it would be a mess. Copy and Paste unfortunately are your friends.
34.) Swamp Fox - 09/29/2015
Well, it's all theoretical anyway...I mean, what am I gonna do if the site crashes again?...Light some candles, get into some sweatpants, open a box of wine and go back and read "The Best of the Threads I Thought To Save" ?

Prolly would burn some incense in hopes that we wouldn't lose any more members, though....LOL

:re: :wink
35.) Wild Bob - 09/29/2015
What the hell brought this on???
36.) Wild Bob - 09/29/2015
Never mind...guilty of typing before thinking. :re:

Don't worry about that, Bob. If it weren't for people typing without thinking there'd be almost no content on the Internet.

:re: :wink
For my own edification, what do you pair with a good box of wine? Cheetos? Salted pork products? Is there a rule of thumb?
44.) Swamp Fox - 09/30/2015
I'm pleased to report that your options are virtually unlimited...The only thing I've found so far that you should definitely avoid is pairing a box of sangria with a jumbo bag of candy corn....
45.) DParker - 09/30/2015
Sangria? I hope you didn't spill any on your dress.

That makes sense. Sangria is more of a corn nut wine.
