I've been wondering for a while what it means to be "radicalized".

I'm thinking that process must be like the Walking Dead. Whether you get bit by a walker or radicalized solving the problem seems identical.
2.) DParker - 12/09/2015
It's a little early in the day for talk of unpaired valence electrons, isn't it?

No. No. No. We're not talking free radicals. We're talking about radicals with holes in their heads.
5.) Swamp Fox - 12/09/2015
The first part of my dissertation on the President's speech the other night probably applies to this question.

I had second thoughts about posting it in one huge chunk, which is why it hasn't appeared yet. Plus I wanted to let it stew some more and give it a small update here and there.

If there's any real desire to gaze upon it, I'll post it in sections over time, but I don't know how inclined I or anyone else is to be too serious on here for an extended period.

So I can also be talked into sparing everyone.

Well..they're free now.
7.) Wild Bob - 12/09/2015
Well, I'd be inclined to suggest that anyone could be radicalized in any given pursuit...I mean, look at Swampy, he seems pretty radicalized over his poetry. :-)

I always thought that perhaps it had to do with low Lycopene levels in an organism. :wink
8.) Bob Peck - 12/09/2015
Well..they're free now.
If you call burning in hell in perpetuity free then yeah, I agree with you. Oh wait, maybe I'm becoming radicalized. :-)
9.) luv2bowhunt - 12/09/2015
Is it radical or literal?

Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."

Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority".

Quran (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward."

Quran (4:76) - "Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…"

Quran (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks."

Quran (4:95) - "Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward "

Quran (4:104) - "And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain..."

Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Quran (8:15) - "O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them. (16)Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey's end."

Quran (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion is all for Allah"

Quran (8:57) - "If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember."

Quran (8:67) - "It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he had made a great slaughter in the land..."

Quran (8:59-60) - "And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy."

Quran (8:65) - "O Prophet, exhort the believers to fight..."

Quran (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them."

Seems to me the terrorists are taking the Quran at it's face value and the other Muslims aren't.

All context aside ... the same question can be asked of Christians.

I am definitely not defending the Quran (which I have read cover-to-cover a couple of times) but to be fair there is plenty of fire and brimstone, death, destruction and laying waste in the Bible and other books of faith. Again ... all context aside.

And the LORD said unto Moses, 'Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.'" (Numbers 25:3-4)

"And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead." (Exodus 12:29-30)

"And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter." (I Samuel 6:19)

"Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished." (Isaiah 13:15-16)

To me? I distill the whole past and current world situation to this:

For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.
Revelation 16:14

I chose my path long ago. My battle rattle is ready. Molon labe.

"Again...all context aside" - Context is everything and you know that.

Huge, HUGE, difference between the verses you posted and the ones from the Quran.

The first 4 you posted are PAST tense, a record of things that happened when God was forming a new nation.
The last verse is a prophecy from Isaiah, recording what GOD says He will do. Here are verses 11-13 that you didn't post:

11
I will punish the world for its evil,
the wicked for their sins.
I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty
and will humble the pride of the ruthless.

12
I will make people scarcer than pure gold,
more rare than the gold of Ophir.

13
Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;
and the earth will shake from its place
at the wrath of the Lord Almighty,
in the day of his burning anger

GOD is the one who says He will do the judging.

The Quran is presented in the PRESENT tense, an ongoing call for continual action of the believers.

Huge difference between the two in this area. You know as well as I that a Christ followers marching orders come from the New Testament. Jesus is the one who taught us to love our enemies and our neighbors as ourselves.

Any judging and killing is for God to take care of.

Why am I preaching to the choir anyway??:tu:

Of course context is everything. I'm just saying if you've never read the Quran every quote posted is out of the context it was written. I didn't and wouldn't say the context was ever justification.

Hillary Clinton, the fightingest fighter in the fight

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/hillary-clinton-the-fightingest-fighter-in-the-fight/article/2566219

Recently, on the other hand, I heard Hillary say of the ISIS/Syria//Iraq situation "This is not an American fight..." Hmmm... I'm not sure there was much mitigating context to this plain statement, but I could be wrong.

I thought it was during this interview, but a skim of the transcript didn't turn it up. It's possible I missed it.

But if you're looking for a bunch of nonsense about why she won't put the words "radical" and "Islam" next to each other (I'm not kidding) and babbling, irrelevancies, dodges and lies about gun control, no-fly lists, and traditional Dem talking points, behold (transcript and video):

No need to apologize. Luv2 never does...

I realize that no one here is likely to want to spend a lot of time reading up on Hillary, but perhaps they have a crazy aunt or redheaded stepsister who wants to vote for The Uterus With The Most Air Miles, or a brother-in-law who is inclined to sit out Election Day because no candidate hits every single one of his hotbuttons. It may be hard to imagine how things can get worse after President 0 is gone, but the best possible scenario with Hillary is that we maintain the suck. And remember how we thought it couldn't get worse after Bill?

So it's basically our patriotic duty to send links around. :wink

Signing off, America! Goodnight, and have a pleasant tomorrow...
