Are you getting any yet...snow that is...(just to clarify)...:-)
2.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2016
LOL...

We have about a half inch of frozen snow on the ground so far, with more to come. I'm on the eastern edge of things based on the maps I saw last night, so I don't think I'm gonna be on the news. Not for this, anyway. :wink.

But you never know. We have a winter weather warning up 'til tomorrow evening. Up to two inches of snow plus one inch of ice unless we're more unlucky. Some high winds and thunder being predicted, which is never a good sign in the winter. Freezing rain and rain into this evening, so we'll see what the temperatures do. Then warming on Sunday and Monday and into next week, but until then it looks like it's getting worse, not better.

I do believe some people who made decisions based on what things looked like this morning may regret that by the end of the day.

So it's "fingers crossed" here. I'll try to let you all know if anything exciting happens. I sense people would really like that. :wink

Tell the Piggly Wiggly girl that you have plenty of gumbo. Maybe that'll convince her to come over and hunker down to wait out the storm with you.
4.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2016
Ha! The best thing about a winter storm is there are a lot of honeys in the grocery store for a day or so, some that you've never seen before, LOL

I plan to make gumbo at some point this weekend. The question is whether to do it tonight and risk losing power in the middle of cooking (or overnight) or wait until things clear and I don't have to worry about protecting a big batch.

But I'm ready with coolers, ice and all that, so it will come down to the flip of a coin, or maybe a HuntingCountry poll...
Do it now. If you don't you'll starve to death and lose your parking space at the liquor store.
6.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2016
ABC stores are closed 'til Monday. "Sorry for the inconvenience."

I suspected it, but just confirmed on the website, LOL

Frozen precip continues here.
7.) luv2bowhunt - 01/22/2016
I plan on going out for breakfast tomorrow morning in the middle of the storm.......and it will be open.............and I won't be the only one there.

You people need to buy the right equipment to do the job, both personally and professionally.

9.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2016
Ice skates?

The roads in the immediate vicinity got a dose of saline or whatever the real name for it is by Thursday afternoon, but there's no "snow equipment" to speak of until you get much farther west than I am.

That's fine with me. I'd rather have drinkable water, say, or decent roads than a bunch of specialized gear to deal with one or two ice storms a year (on average).

I rarely have to get to the Waffle House THAT badly. :wink

Pffffft. If you don't have enough booze on hand at all times to wait out a little snowpocalypse you've already given up.
12.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2016
Never depend on the state to help provide a rosy outlook on life...

I think that's the lesson here.
13.) Wild Bob - 01/22/2016
Lessons in Life you say...I've got one to share:

I sure do miss Waffle House...

Nothing like a 'Pork Chop Breakfast' with a double helping of 'Scattered, smothered, covered and chunked!' :hb:
'Scattered, smothered, covered and chunked!' :hb:
Are we back to talking about cheap tequila?
15.) Wild Bob - 01/22/2016
No sir! We're talking hashbrowns cooked just right with ham, onions, and cheese. Umm-ummm. :-)

OK. Just don't try to tell me that boiling water soaks into a grit faster in your kitchen than on any place on the face of the Earth.
17.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2016
LOL...Where's that from?

And here I thought you were a cinematicaly cultured sort.

19.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2016
LOL...You're right, I probably should have known that one. If I'd thought about it for more than two seconds, I probably could have made it one of several guesses, anyway.
20.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2016
Looks like the next couple of days might be a better time to catch up on movies I've never seen or don't remember well than I thought yesterday.

I have two and a half inches of ice topped by a dusting of powder here, with temps not expected to exceed freezing today. You don't even sink down when you walk on it. It's packed solid. It won't be vanishing any time soon. It will be fun when we get a little melting tomorrow and then a refreeze Sunday night.

I predict cars in ditches in three...two...one...as people overestimate their knowledge of the concept of friction. Look for us on the news. :wink

Fortunately, there is not much on the trees, as 10--20 mph winds are expected to gust to 30 here, 35-40 east of me. Flurries are predicted for the rest of the day, but I get the impression not much accumulation.

Time to get started on that gumbo...
21.) DParker - 01/23/2016
I hope you remembered to put antifreeze in the Bronco.

And if you do go out, be careful about who you offer to help out of those ditches.

27" here so far, still snowing hard. Bob is probably dead.
23.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2016
How was breakfast at the diner?

Anybody else there besides you, the cook and the waitress?

:wink

24.) luv2bowhunt - 01/23/2016
Wife wouldn't let me go. She had to cook.
25.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2016
You say that like it's a bad thing...Don't let her know your password. :wink

So, it's not lemon flavored?
