1.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
NFL wusses out on Roman numerals...Another sign of the Apocalypse.

Let's imagine if a good hit could be a good hit, a catch a catch, and a fumble a fumble...

Here we go, ladies.....

2.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Tom Brady gets booed at the MVP introductions...LOL
3.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Malcolm Smith couldn't afford a pair of dress shoes..LOL
4.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Floyd better get here PDQ, or I'm gonna have to appoint somebody else to do the commentary on the commercials...

:tap:
5.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Willing and able.
6.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Go horseys!
7.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Some of those mvps had trouble walking.
8.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Willing and able.
Okay. You're appointed.

Floyd, if you're out there: You snooze, you lose.

9.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Lady Gaga scores with the National Anthem and the red glitter eye lids. :tu:

I bet Bruce Jenner wishes he'd thought of that.
10.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Swampy, do you need a puppy bowl correspondent?
11.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Some of those mvps had trouble walking.
I noticed that , too.

There's apparently a big diffference between 50 and 65 years old.

Billy, what do you think?
12.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Gaga killed it. Second best rendition of all time
13.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Swampy, do you need a puppy bowl correspondent?
I only have a vague idea what you mean, but yeah...I'll take it...It's been deadly slow around here today since Crookedeye passed out.
14.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Gaga killed it. Second best rendition of all time
I thought it was very good, especially for a pop star. Who's your best?
15.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Avacodos. :tu:
16.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Whitney, still gives me shivers when I hear it.
17.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Apartments.com, lame.
18.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
Avocados: can't say I'm a fan. Of the vegetable, I mean. Commercial was okay. Twitter will be lighting up about the Mexican accent in 3, 2, 1...

Whitney: I'll give you that one.
19.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Avacodos, the commercial, not the icky green crap inside.
20.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Doritos, awesome.
21.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
Best so far.
22.) Swamp Fox - 02/07/2016
You took the words right out of my mouth!!!

:grin::clap:

23.) bluecat - 02/07/2016
What's the over under on how many times Peyton says Omaha?
24.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Not sure, but "Urine" won the pool in the Republican debate last night...:-)
25.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Audi, meh
26.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Didn't watch the debates. Did Carson figure out how to get on stage?
27.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I'll have to get back to you on that...Bowie struck me as more of a Jag-u-ar kinda dude...
28.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Mountain Dew. I want to unseen it.
29.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Didn't watch the debates. Did Carson figure out how to get on stage?
LOL...eventually...he even ignored/blew off a staffer trying to shoo him on...
30.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Marmot, kinda cute.
31.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Looked like a catch to me.
32.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Mountain Dew. I want to unseen it.
Agreed. Something's wrong with the kids if they're drinking that...
33.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I normally don't do play by play. Am I doing okay Swampy?
34.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
YES!
35.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Looked like a catch to me.
Have to agree with the call on the field. I go by what was a catch when I was in high school and throughout history...
36.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Ouch! Time to sit down, Cam.
37.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
What kind of a dance do you do when you fumble for a touchdown?
38.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I normally don't do play by play. Am I doing okay Swampy?
You're ahead of me. I seem to be on a delay, LOL.

You're fine. :tu:
39.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
You mean with the leather helmets?
40.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Catch: grab ball before it hits ground.
41.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Broncos are doing to Panthers what they did to Pats.
42.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
PS. Favre and Letterman look awful in beards.
43.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Talib, still doesn't get it.
44.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Favre much better in stubble...He's a good-looking guy...I can say that...
45.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Buick, nice!
46.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Bested by Advil, though.
47.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
If Broncos win are we going to resurrect the horse thread?
48.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Favre much better in stubble...He's a good-looking guy...I can say that...
Man crush?
49.) DParker - 02/08/2016
I don't like any of the commercials yet.
50.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Catch: grab ball before it hits ground.
Looked like he used the ground to control the ball. I'll have to look at it again later.
51.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I don't like any of the commercials yet.
Did you see the Doritos commercial?
52.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
If Broncos win are we going to resurrect the horse thread?
My Magic 8 Ball says, "Neigh"....but you never know.
53.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Man crush?
I nearly died of happiness when he was wearing purple, gold and white. :wink
54.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Did you see the Doritos commercial?
Yeah, not that great though. Plus they've been airing it for a couple weeks already.
55.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Super bowl commercials should only be about beer and or chips.
56.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Yeah, not that great though. Plus they've been airing it for a couple weeks already.
Had not seen it before but then again I don't have a house full of robots.
57.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
At least two good Hyundai ---spelling?---commercials---for people who were trying to kill my dad in 1944...
58.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Illegal movement...
59.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Had not seen it before but then again I don't have a house full of robots.
Don't knock it.

60.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
At least 2 decent Hyundai commercials...
61.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Talib, %\=

64.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Talib, going for record now.
65.) DParker - 02/08/2016
At least 2 decent Hyundai commercials...
I see you edited your post before I could ask you why South Koreans were trying to kill your dad in 1944.
66.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
LOL...You got me...:-)
67.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Does PETA know, there is a racoon living in Steven Tyler's hair?
68.) DParker - 02/08/2016
When the defender grabs your junk as you hit the ground, you're down by contact.
69.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Who's going to a Ninja Turtles movie?
70.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Who's going to a Ninja Turtles movie?
I have to confess, I've never seen 1 minute of anything related to those things.
71.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Does PETA know, there is a racoon living in Steven Tyler's hair?
Haven't seen that one, yet.

Another good Hyundai commercial..."What a man"...Not any kind of award-winner, though...

I've got nothing against Koreans...LOL...I feel I should say that...
72.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Broncos seem to have game-planned Carolina offense very well so far.
73.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Broncos seem to have game-planned Carolina offense very well so far.
Special teams....not so much.
74.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Special teams....not so much.
Never mind. I got that one ass-backwards.
75.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
How do you get run over by Tolbert and survive?
76.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Nice run.
77.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Both offenses are just getting man-handled by the defenses.
78.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Lots of athleticism for a big man.
79.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I remember when Crookedeye was so excited to hear Katy Perry at the Super Bowl.

Where is he now that they have a really GOOD girl band for halftime?
80.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Spraying for millipedes.
81.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
What's the song underlying the Prius commercial? I have been trying to figure that out for months. They play it at stadiums for football games.

In related news, I saw where Bernie Sanders was being interviewed by Anderson Cooper, who asked him what kind of car he drove. It's about 5 years old, a Chevy, and Bernie made a point to emphasize that it is red.

I ain't lyin'.
82.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Olsen should be a Viking.

I'm just sayin'.
83.) bluecat - 02/08/2016

I'll try and pay attention next time it comes on. What's with all those car commercials. They're no fun. What happened to the Bud Weiser frogs and Tabasco sauce commercials?
84.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Car companies are the only ones that can afford those spots now I guess.
85.) DParker - 02/08/2016
I still haven't seen a single commercial that's worth remembering. In fact it's been several years since I've seen anything that ranks anywhere near the "Terry Tate: Office Linebacker" class of entertaining ads.
86.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Spraying for millipedes.
Is that what he's calling it now?
87.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I agree. With the exception of the Doritos commercial, none of them have been Super Bowl worthy.
88.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I'm missing the dancing sharks right about now...

:omg:
89.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Now THIS was a Super Bowl ad.

90.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Release the doves?
91.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
LOL...I never saw that one.
92.) DParker - 02/08/2016
OK, best commercial so far, and....it was for the Amazon Echo.
93.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I'll try and pay attention next time it comes on. What's with all those car commercials. They're no fun. What happened to the Bud Weiser frogs and Tabasco sauce commercials?
I don't think there's been one beer commercial here at all. Weird.

The new PC NFL?
94.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I think I saw nipple.
95.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
OK, best commercial so far, and....it was for the Amazon Echo.
I'll have to watch tomorrow. TV is way too loud.
96.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I saw the Echo commercial, LOL. How about that for coinkydinks?

---Super Bowl caliber, but still second fiddle to Doritos.
97.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Doh!
98.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I'll have to watch tomorrow. TV is way too loud.
Try yelling, "Hillary, pipe down!"

See if that works.
99.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
The dogs with Doritos is pretty good too.
100.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Man! There have been a ton of missed FGs this year!
101.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
TurboTax!

:tu:
102.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Diarrhea commercial? These commercials are crap.
103.) DParker - 02/08/2016
LG OLED TV w/Liam Neeson = most stupid commercial so far.
104.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Butterfinger :tu:
105.) DParker - 02/08/2016
How many turnovers is that for Carolina now?
106.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Dacshunds :tu:
107.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Probably spelled that wrong.
108.) DParker - 02/08/2016
I don't think there's been one beer commercial here at all. Weird.

The new PC NFL?
Bud? Oh, wait...you said "beer". Never mind.
109.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Omaha should give Peyton a key to the city.
110.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Wow. Christopher Walken in a Kia commercial? Talk about a wasted opportunity for awesomeness.
111.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Need a first down.
112.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Not understanding the play selection.
113.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Most excellent.
114.) DParker - 02/08/2016
This one should be renamed the Turnover Bowl.
115.) DParker - 02/08/2016
You're down by 14 at the 2 minute warning with only 2 timeouts left...and you punt?!
116.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
4th and 24...

But still...
117.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I know, right?
118.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Quit showing players crying.
119.) DParker - 02/08/2016
It could have been 4th and 90...and you still need to try it. At that point you need to create a miracle, and letting the other team run down half the remaining time ain't going to do it.
120.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Esurance was pretty funny.
121.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Maybe the computer tells them to hope for a fumble recovery after the punt. :tap:
122.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Even I don't get football play advice from Alexa.
123.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Esurance was pretty funny.
I don't know if it played here.
124.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
Even I don't get football play advice from Alexa.
LOL...
125.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Why is The Joker speaking at the Super Bowl? And when did he become a blonde?
126.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I wasn't going to say anything...
127.) DParker - 02/08/2016
Oh, and...PuppyMonkeyBaby was just disturbing.
128.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
They're all jacked up on Mountain Dew!
129.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
how'd you guys like the halftime show??

good game.. the bronco's defense is top notch.
130.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
i was pretty happy peyton manning won the super bowl..it wasnt his best performance, but he didnt lose the game..
131.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
that beyounce or whatever her name is..she really can move and groove..
132.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I wish they would have one performer and stop there. It's turning into a logistic fiasco. We don't need multiple performers.
133.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
i almost had to leave the room for a couple minutes about midway through the halftime show..
134.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
I wish they would have one performer and stop there. It's turning into a logistic fiasco. We don't need multiple performers.
i dont no why they dont have tobey keith..or acdc...
135.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
i almost had to leave the room for a couple minutes about midway through the halftime show..
I thought you were spraying for millipedes down in your basement.
136.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
i moved upstairs.. didnt i mention this??

i got bit by somthing down there while i was sleeping twice..the 2nd time my arm really swelled up..then i had the snake..i try not to even go down there anymore...
137.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
i cant believe i didnt tell you guys this..i bought a bunch of those flat sticky traps..you no where when a bug crosses it it gets stuck on it..anyhow i went down there one morning and there was a freaking snake stuck on it!! i was like WTF!!
138.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
i cant believe i didnt tell you guys this..i bought a bunch of those flat sticky traps..you no where when a bug crosses it it gets stuck on it..anyhow i went down there one morning and there was a freaking snake stuck on it!! i was like WTF!!
Well the snake was probably keeping your millipede population in check. Once you remove the top predator you're going to have an explosion of centipedes, millipedes and other creepy crawlies. You might want to stock even more snakes.
139.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Or stock ferrets and weasels. These will help with the snake population. You just need to achieve a biological balance really.
140.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
If you let one or two coyotes down there, you can keep the ferret and weasel population from going crazy. But then again, you've got all the noise at sunrise and sunset. When do you typically go to bed CE?
141.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
lol.. that is a ture story about the snake though.. i can try and try to keep the bugs out of there...i buytraps and sprays..i dont even think its safe for me to go down there breathing in all the fumes from the sprays i got down there..they just keep coming!
142.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
i really believe the sprays make them more powerful..they get immune to it..
143.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
the bug spray is like a feed for them..
144.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Maybe you got the pheromone spray instead of the insecticide. The problem is both of them are on the same shelf. The packaging is almost the same.

The pheromone spray is like the Axe spray for men. It will increase the population.
145.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016
i have notice an increase of younger bugs down there..
146.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016

You two should take this act on the road! :-)

I actually sat through the halftime, mostly because I was working on a big bowl of gumbo at the time and couldn't do anything else. The thing that stood out to me was the coordination in presentation and video. It seemed seamless. Petty amazing accomplishment with three separate acts, somewhat diverse.

Coldplay was Coldplay, Bruno Mars has more talent in his little finger than that whole band combined, and Beyoncé was typical Beyoncé. (Did you know that this forum knows to put the little accent mark on Beyoncé's name automagically? I sure didn't do it myself, LOL

Oh, and I learned that love is beautiful, or something.

once in a while i'll get a clance of the alpha male centipede..i think he knows when i come down there..
149.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I would have liked Coldplay and that is it. Didn't need to see Beyoncé (you're right it added the little squiggly thing) twerking. It was one of the better super bowls I can remember. The commercials were lacking. The Doritos commercial (hilarious) already has some groups all upset.

Get a life people!
150.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
once in a while i'll get a clance of the alpha male centipede..i think he knows when i come down there..
The main thing about that CE (I've learned this the hard way), is that you cannot lower your gaze. If you do and the alpha male sees that, then you can never be dominant again. It's a chess game if you will. Remain focused and stare right at him. Remember that scene in Aliens when Sigourney laid waste to all those eggs with the flame thrower while the big bitch watched?
The Doritos commercial (hilarious) already has some groups all upset.

What are they complaining about? I have a guess, but I'm gonna keep my mouth shut.
152.) bluecat - 02/08/2016

I think Christie has hit the limit as far as the tough guy thing goes. I believe he's worn it out in the last couple of debates, even if people haven't paid attention to him in the past to see all the previous obnoxiousness.

It's not like I never enjoyed seeing him tell someone to sit down and shut up, but now that he's struggling to maintain a seat at the table rather than battling ideological opponents, his Republican and Independent compatriots shouldn't take any chest bumping from him. He has plenty of problems they can throw back at him, if they want.

His "governor and prosecutor" act has gotten old, too, as has the "the American people don't want to hear about all of this" bit, when other candidates are debating a point that leaves him out.

I have lots of other problems with Christie (not the least that he misrepresents his record and his positions pretty baldly), but my point is that I don't think he has much mileage left to him after New Hampshire. I doubt he will do very well in SC.

I neglected to make this point the other day: For Christie to go after Rubio for being scripted and having canned responses is pretty laughable. Christie has a big ol' grocery bag full of his own: prosecutor, governor, 9/11, wife worked near the Twin Towers, Democratic legislature, what the American people want, blah blah blah.

If you got Christie in your drinking game, you'd be passed out or at least want a nap pretty badly within half an hour.

I guess he thinks Rubio is his biggest hurdle for the "electability" lane. Christie's not conservative enough to be going after him for the conservative lane. Maybe he thinks he is, but he's deluded if that's the way his mind works.

I suppose he has dismissed Kasich out of hand and done nearly the same with Jeb, although I think that's foolish. I don't think Jeb's dead yet (in the same way I don't think Hillary will avoid indictment).

But to Christie, perhaps, Rubio is the one he has to knock down. He can deal with Jeb later, if he has to. Makes a certain amount of sense.

I think he's been leading for a while. This is a small poll, but seems to be what everyone's pointing to:

Trump commands 30 percent support from likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire, the poll found. John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz were virtually tied for second place, with 14 percent support for Kasich, 13 percent each for Rubio and Bush and 12 percent for Cruz.

Other candidates were far behind. Chris Christie had 6 percent support, Carly Fiorina had 5 percent and Ben Carson had 4 percent.

On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders led Hillary Clinton by 10 points, with 52 percent support for Sanders and 42 percent for Clinton.

202.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
About the catch...from what I remember, the ball did touch the ground but at the same time he had control, which is fine. The ball can actually touch the ground if it is under control. He had the ball securely. I thought it was a catch. I'd have to see it again.

205.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
So far, I can't find any decent video of the play, replays or audio of the commentary. But this is worth a peek.

Mike P's job is to analyze the plays according to the rules in place, which is why I have such a problem with him sometimes. He never seems to comment (on air during the game) about what rules make any sense and which don't, etc., and of course the booth guys hardly ever say anything, either.

It would be nice to hear more commentary about the rules where there are issues, but sometimes it seems like the NFL has a gag order out on the booth. I think if a rule is stupid, clearly goes against common sense, or is hopelessly arbitrary or hard to interpret or enforce, somebody should be saying something about it on the air.

Also, as far as Mike Carey goes, I've seen comments from his bosses that give me the impression they want him to analyze "as if he were making the call," which is a little weird, because that could be different from what the crazy rules say. Do they really mean that? Or do they mean "as if he were making the call according to his understanding of the rules"?

I know I make a lot of calls that don't conform with the current rules, but that's because I don't agree with the current rules, not always because I don't understand them...LOL.

It would be fun to go back and take a bunch of plays and see how a fan would have called them vs. the zebras vs. the booth.
206.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I called it an incomplete because I didn't think he had control, or because he at least used the ground to control, and to my way of thinking that's not a catch. But I have notoriously different definitions of what catches, incompletes and fumbles are from what's being called on the field these days. You can't teach me differently, either. :wink
207.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I'm looking at the frame and to me it looks under control/secured. It doesn't matter if it hits the ground as long as it is secure (nose of ball direction doesn't change as a result of it hitting the ground). We can argue about this until Hillary goes to prison but I think/thought it was a catch.
208.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
I can be bought though.
209.) bluecat - 02/08/2016
Say a 3-pack of Montecs and I'll tell you he was out of bounds too.
210.) Swamp Fox - 02/08/2016
I'll keep my eye out for good video (there has to be some coming) but if you just look at that still above, I think that's where it's hitting the ground and begins to move (eventually rolling over his hip, etc.). You're right that hitting the ground doesn't make the difference, but clearly the ball moved as the play was being completed, and so--based on my understanding of the current rules---everything considered, it's incomplete.

I don't really recall all the history of how all this got so confusing, but the NFL should just stop already.

Require control of the ball all the way to the ground, and control upon hitting the ground, without using the ground for control. It really is as simple as that.

If a receiver or runner receives the ball, has full possession of it--however briefly--and then drops it for any reason, that's a freakin' fumble. I don't care if he did or didn't bobble the ball before full possession, lost it when he got hit, lost it after impact with the ground, or lost it because he pooped his pants when he saw the DB was gonna plow him---It's still a fumble. Yes, the ground CAN cause a fumble, and this nonsense of calling an incomplete where the player catches the ball, turns to run and even takes a couple of steps before dropping the rock also has got to stop.

And that's all I got to say about THAT! :-)
211.) crookedeye - 02/08/2016

I might have more to say about that speech later....:wink

Somewhere along the line, some wandering purveyor of fine rhymes, limericks, palindromes and haikus has taken you under his wing and shown you the ways of the master.
270.) Swamp Fox - 02/11/2016
Well, thank you, but haiku is not my strong suit.

I like to think that I make up for that, though, by being a master of disguise.

271.) DParker - 02/11/2016

But work keeps coming his way.
Crazy like a fox.
272.) Swamp Fox - 02/11/2016
