Group plans protest at Benner’s Farm to save beloved cow

Apparently the antibiotic-free beef at Whole Foods is also cow-free, and is manufactured from pixie dust and unicorn farts.
Over the years, Benner's farm has evolved into a popular attraction for strawberry picking, birthday parties, and class trips for kids. Which is how Kimberly Sherriton, a mother from Commack, got involved with a farm cow that she saw at a birthday party.

Sherriton became heartbroken when she heard that the 2-year-old cow will end up on the Benner’s family dinner table.

Benner says he does not want to sell the cow because his family can’t afford to buy that quality of food.

Sherriton still believes he should buy meat from the store.

“He doesn't need this cow to survive and feed his family. He puts a sob story on there. Please, tell him to go to Whole Foods and go get some anti-biotic free beef there," she said.
Remember, her vote counts the same as yours.
2.) bluecat - 04/13/2016
The Benners should have asked Sherriton if she would be open to trading the cow to her for an equivalent amount of meat from Whole Foods. Then Sherriton could save this cow from destruction and also learn a little bit about economics, domestic stock ownership and um... oh yeah, where food comes from.

It comes from the place where they make cellophane, duh!

I got involved in the bru-ha-ha that ensued when Whole Foods started test marketing farm-raised rabbit meat in some of their stores. It was utterly amazing to me (though, of course, I should have known better) how many people believe that eating bunnies is some sort of barbaric yet newfangled thing, with there being no history of doing so in this or any other allegedly civilized country.

Citing the wild game recipes from the original edition of The Joy of Cooking, and the fact that Europeans eat the hell out of rabbits/hares did nothing to convince them otherwise.

Just don't ruin the bunnies with a frickin' white sauce! G-D frogs! You can't take them anywhere...

Should I read the article to find out why Whole Foods is better than Piggly Wiggly? Or can I enjoy my antibiotic-laden, expensive-enough meat in peace?

Vote now, and be sure to like this nutbag on Facebook...

I hear some of them drink vodka with it too.

All you need to know is that people should buy their meat at the grocery store, where no animals were harmed to make it.

Good! That saves me a lot of time...

:-)
7.) Swamp Fox - 04/14/2016
About this picture, though: I have a few questions...LOL

8.) The Old Man - 04/14/2016
Slightly off topic but here goes.

OK now, back on topic.
9.) Swamp Fox - 04/14/2016
LOL...

If this doesn't pull Deerminator out of the shadows, I don't know what will...

What's to ask? They obviously have a beef with the farmer.
12.) DParker - 04/14/2016
And I suspect he's getting pretty tired of their bull.
13.) Swamp Fox - 04/14/2016
These animal rights people think meat farmers and hunters should be their filet minions...I hope Benner doesn't kowtow to their demands...

Not without getting some prime Angus or Kobe or at least grass-fed beef in return, anyway.
14.) DParker - 04/14/2016
Now you're getting to the meat of the issue, and I too have a bone to pick with the cow-huggers. It doesn't sound like Benner is going to give in to their grilling, but I wouldn't steak my reputation on it.

Bluecat is missing out.

At least you didn't come on here to tell us you'd mooved on from puns...
19.) bluecat - 04/18/2016
No, I'm kind of a Maverick.
20.) bluecat - 04/18/2016
I'd tell you I was reading Madame Bovary, but I know you'd see right through that.
21.) Swamp Fox - 04/18/2016
You spent all weekend bovine on the couch, I bet....Don't know how the wife puts up with it...
22.) bluecat - 04/18/2016
Me either, but I'm ready to take the bull by the horns now.
23.) bluecat - 04/18/2016
The protestors are trying to take away the farmer's cash cow.
24.) Swamp Fox - 04/18/2016
You know they're milking this situation for all it's worth...

At least three points...
27.) bluecat - 04/18/2016
LOL, I can do this till the cows come home.
28.) DParker - 04/18/2016
OK, I have to admit that the Harry Caray reference took me a minute. Well played, sir. Well played.
29.) bluecat - 04/18/2016
You know his head kind looks like a gobbler head, mid gobble.
