I have a cellular trail cam setup on my feeder so I see pictures immediately as the deer/turkey/raccoon/cat/beaver/groundhog/hawk/crow/blackbird/whatever shows up at the feeder. This is my first spring in the new house and I'm really enjoying what comes into the yard.
Last week a buck showed up with new growth antlers, he had main beams and eye guards but only had a real thick mass on the end of his right side. Today, he is already split and is really looking like he's going to be a decent buck.

Is that your porch light in the background? What do you figure ... 100-150 yard shot? No need to even take off the slippers.

I think I relayed this story when I was first told it a few months ago, but that's how my boss's father (85 years old) killed his biggest buck ever back in December...standing in the garage doorway in his bathrobe, looking at a feeder he'd set up at the edge of his property about 100 yds away.

Now you know what's gonna eat all those flowers you worked on all weekend.:wink

This could be a new kind of guided hunt. We could even integrate the cell phone camera Jon speaks of so we're not wasting time watching the feeder.

I told my boss that it sounded like his dad was really roughing it, and that I bet he even had to set his coffee and newspaper down for a moment to pick up his rifle. I mean, we old guys really like our morning routines, and having them interrupted like that can be quite traumatic.
7.) BULLZ-i - 05/16/2016
SHOT THIS ONE YESTERDAY, HE HAS A COUPLE BIGGER BUDDIES, BUT THEY ARE SHY RIGHT NOW. I THINK I WAS IN MY SLIPPERS AS WELL.

Were you on your "big deck"?
9.) Jon - 05/17/2016
And of course, there's this guy who has shown up a few times but never when I was hunting. He walked by me and Red while we were planting stuff the other day. Season's over of course!

That's a Timex tom: He takes a licking and keeps on gobbling...
11.) Jon - 05/27/2016
The same buck was at the feeder this am, he's growing leaps and bounds.

Here he is compared to 11 days ago. Pretty considerable growth

Looks like he has a constant companion.
14.) Jon - 05/27/2016
I'm going to slowly take care of that issue

They work well in mild or spicy Italian sausage. I'm just sayin'.
16.) Jon - 05/27/2016
Took out a lost cat (sorry, not sorry Swampy) this AM, the coons will have similar fate
17.) bluecat - 05/27/2016
Jon, will you leave your feeder up all year? Will you hunt over your feeder?

Just curious.
18.) DParker - 05/27/2016

Oh, well...in that case....stir fry is in order. http://www.cookyourpet.com/html/recipe_cat_001.htm
19.) bluecat - 05/27/2016
Oh so close. I had all the ingredients to make that dish except...kitten broth.

Can I substitute?
20.) Jon - 05/27/2016
BC, I will feed all year and I don't hunt over the feeder. I actually hunt the other side of my property mostly BUT do have a stand about 150yds from the feeder at the edge of a field where they tend to cross.
21.) Jon - 06/02/2016
A few from today, he's growing like crazy

Nice!
24.) bow-fishhunter - 06/02/2016
There was a woman who took a pic of 4 fawns with one doe this spring in MN. I don't know if she had them or adopted them but I guess they're all doing fine.
25.) Jon - 06/06/2016
Here he is this morning

26.) bluecat - 06/06/2016
Where is his little friend?
27.) Swamp Fox - 06/06/2016
I'd say you have a regular customer. Pretty amazing the difference in 6 or 7 weeks.
28.) Jon - 06/06/2016
BC, his little coon friend is fairly close, you can guarantee that. Swampy, these pics were in a 3 week span. I can't wait to see him at the end of July, the biggest growing period.

LOL...Damn, I'm glad I got the month of June back...

This is what happens when you switch to decaf...

Rocky's butt is getting larger.
