I'm watching a show called The Last Alaskans about the last 4 families currently allowed to live in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. One of the families (native Inuits, from their speech and appearance) is going on about how precious and hard to come by meat is, and how one of their primary protein sources is ducks from one of the nearby ponds. Grandma is allegedly a pretty capable duck hunter, so she's going to head out and get the family some dinner. They show her loading her shotgun for the outing, and when they zoom in on the shells she's inserting you can see that they're.....slugs. Then she stands on the edge of a large, still pond and shoots at some ducks in the middle of it, about 50 yds from her. The water is hit by a spread of shot pellets (slugs that fragment in-flight?), and then one of the ducks suddenly appears on the edge of the pond for them to retrieve (even though they have no dogs).

Maybe I should expect to see Bear Grylls checking into a Motel 6 just up the river after the next commercial.

LOL...

I caught Sherlock Holmes; Game of Shadows the other night. Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and a cutie from Sweden by the name of Noomi Rapace.

(She played a gypsy fortune teller: Oh, yeah! :wink)

Anyway, they showed an assassin loading a curare dart to be fired from...wait for it... a .223 shell. Close-up of the head stamp and everything. Big as life: "Winchester 223 Rem." I had to pause the screen a couple of times to be sure of what I was seeing, LOL.

The movie is decent, but considering it's set in 1891 and the .223 Rem was designed in 1964 as far as I know, I had a hard time taking it too seriously after that.

By the way: Robert Downey Jr. as Ironman: The most obnoxious superhero ever, and a disgrace to the comic.

Good catch.

Humpf, you guys didn't say anything when I told you about the mule deer fight they showed on Naked and Afraid down in South America.

Gypsies rock.

So you're saying I don't post enough? LOL...I don't remember even seeing that one. I'll try to do better in the future. :-)
6.) bluecat - 07/18/2016
We have to be vigilant. These shows can't get away with this.

When they come out of the mine, they're often board.

(Don't mind me: "I was born in the wagon of a traveling show...")

+3 :-)

Thanks for Chering. I'd offer to pay for the performance, but I'm assuming you did it pro Bono.
10.) bluecat - 07/18/2016
(+3) squared

I got you, babe.

(Oh, c'mon!...You knew that was coming...)

And the beat goes on, little man.

13.) Swamp Fox - 07/18/2016
Huh...They had to go to France to do that video...LOL

Wonder if they ran into Jerry Lewis over there. :-)

BTW, the Amazon commercial with the miniature pony is one of my favorites. I was gonna write "with the miniature pony that plays that song" but I can't get bogged down into a long thread about how the elephant got in my pajamas today...

Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time [Official... by SaborAEsenciaLatino

I'm catching some subtle sexual inuendos in this video. Is it just me? LOL!
15.) Swamp Fox - 07/18/2016
I never knew Cher was so big with the Navy, but it's all starting to make sense now...:fire:

BTW, does anybody else think they see Bullz-I around 1:40? :p
16.) bluecat - 07/18/2016
Was she wearing a "Chastity" belt?
17.) Swamp Fox - 07/18/2016
If she opened a leather goods store called Chastity's Belts, she could specialize in reversible ones like the ones they have at Men's Wearhouse...
18.) Swamp Fox - 07/19/2016
Or maybe not...

I don't know how any of this works...
19.) bluecat - 07/19/2016
+4:wink
20.) Swamp Fox - 07/19/2016
Where's Wild Bob when you need him for a good rant about movie realism?

Hope he's okay. Last I heard from him he was going on a late-season elk hunt. There was talk of snowmobiles, and everything was uphill both ways...

21.) bluecat - 07/19/2016
Lol! I was wondering that myself.
