I posted here season before last about having a somewhat odd looking coyote wander past my makeshift ground blind one day...odd in that it was not only slightly larger than a typical coyote, but it's coat color was also predominantly a silvery gray rather than the duller brown/black/beige tones you usually see on them around here. I didn't think that much of it at the time, or since, other than to remark on what an unusually attractive animal it was. Then this morning I ran across a little blurb on the spread of "Coywolves" (various coyote+wolf hybrids) and did a little Google image searching, where I found this particular example on Wikipedia:

I've slept since that woodland encounter over a year and a half ago, but to the best of my recollection the pooches in that photo are very similar in appearance to what trotted past my blind back then. I think I need to do some digging and see if I can find any official TPWD info on the subject.

Funny you post that. Yesterday, I saw a picture of what I figured was a domesticated coy-wolf (I believe there is such a thing) doing a tug of war with its owner over a half of watermelon. Beautiful animal.

Now I'm going to have to figure out where I saw it. :tap:

That was Rosie O'Donnell and one of her girlfriends.

Definitely prettier than Rosie, and a better personality too, I'll bet. I can't find it now. If you do a yahoo image search for dog + watermelon some stuff comes up that's close. I had no luck searching coywolf + watermelon.

I'm guessing it was a banner or clickbait on some site I was on.

Cool looking animals!
