1.) Swamp Fox - 11/30/2016
A Digital Poem

by Swamp Fox

How technology works

How we think it works

How we think it SHOULD work (including data transfer)

How geeks say it feels when it works

How it really feels for a few days when it works

How it feels after that when it works

Why we're surprised any time that it works (plus free support package).

The illusion of support

The inevitable solution

The reward in the afterlife.

Expectation is the root of all heartache.

---The End

Feel free to post your own thoughts in prose or poem form below.

I think that's how this works...

LOL...

Well done on the digital presentation, too. Lots of layers of meaning for this thread.

There once was a feller named Swampy
Who's frustration made his foot stompy
He's known to be quirky
His transfer no worky
of the pics of the girls with the bumpys

Who knew you were an English Lit major?
9.) Swamp Fox - 11/30/2016
The Dean called. They're revoking his diploma until he cleans up his typo. :wink

Not to hijack the thread---LOL---but here's a question for everyone: Looking back now, would you want to go to any school that would accept you as a student? ---:wink

In 1959 Groucho presented a humorously fictionalized account in his memoir “Groucho and Me”. The comedian described an event at the Delaney Club during which he was unhappily seated next to a “barber who had cut me many times, both socially and with a razor” [GMGR]:

At one point he looked slowly around the room, then turned to me and said, “Groucho, we’re certainly getting a lousy batch of new members!”

I chose to ignore this remark and tried talking to him about Chaucer, Ruskin and Shakespeare, but he had switched to denouncing electric razors as a death blow to the tonsorial arts, so I dried up and resumed drinking. The following morning I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON’T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER.

"I've slaved over a hot oven all day and you just waltz right in here with your muddy boots, dropping dead animals everywhere...No wonder your mother asked me if I knew what I was getting in to!"

I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. :wink

Having never seen Brokeback Mountain I was unaware that it was a black-and-white (well, sepia, really) film.

I already guessed that was a scene from Brokeback Mountain, so there's no need to leave more clues.

Inside Poetry: How the art is made----

A digital lecture series for perpetual students, faculty, and other ne'er-do-wells.

Originally that pic showed up as the dreaded black X. I stuck with it, though, because on second thought, winding the poem down with a technological glitch that would perhaps be intermittent, unpredictable and unexplainable seemed a nice touch. :wink

I wish I could achieve the same effect with the versions that don't have the photographer's borders, though. The border might detract from the gauzy white Valhalla effect I was going for. But then again, maybe nobody's gonna catch that anyway except on a subtle, subliminal level, which I'm not sure we're equipped for anymore, anyway, in this brave new world we're living in.

And that's all I have to say about THAT. ---LOL

But please feel free to post other pictures--and word pictures, LOL-- about how technology makes you feel, and the alternatives you long for.

Also, if you know how to code an image so it only appears sporadically without crashing the whole forum, that would be great....:fire:
