You made me cry
When you said, "Goodbye"
Well done. :applause:

I thought this was a little odd, from the link:
At least in appearance, Domino was no Elvis Presley. He stood 5-feet-5 and weighed more than 200 pounds, with a wide, boyish smile and a haircut as flat as an album cover.
WTF?

Elvis Presley was no Elvis Presley toward the end, after all the donuts.

I guess until Rolling Stone comes out with their elegy and career recap, nobody can be bothered to write something beyond a blurb.

But it's not as bad as something I saw in Wikipedia recently, so there's that ... Granted, Wiki is not known for particularly articulate writing, but this might win some type of award:
Her relationship with Monteith was cut short in July 2013 following his death.
So I guess there's maybe hope you can still catch a Fats Domino concert until he hangs it up, following his death.
3.) bluecat - 10/25/2017
LOL! Death seems to cut things a little short.

Some people are just lazy.

Anyway...back on track.

You have "several of my favorites" in there. He also has an interesting version of "Jambalaya" with sax and/or horns if I remember right (so it came to mind) and I ran across a song a while back called something like "I'm In Love Again" with a line something like "I'm saving all my love in jail for you" which has become up toward the top of the list for me, LOL. I don't know how popular it was, and I don't have time to look for it right now, but maybe later, LOL.

BTW, you know your company is immigrant and young-people-heavy when you note at the end of a staff meeting that one of the major pioneers of rock-and-roll has died, and over 60% of the room has no idea who you're talking about.
14.) bluecat - 10/25/2017
You calling young people heavy?

"Oh, yeah! Fats Domino ... I've heard of that place. It's like a pizza poolroom in an old warehouse, right? Pretty cool, bro ... Do they have PBR in cans?"

I keep thinking I've heard Delbert McClinton do a great cover of that, but I can't find one on YouTube. I'll check the discography.
18.) DParker - 10/25/2017
I'd forgotten all about his version of Jambalaya, which was actually an old Hank Williams tune. Good use of brass. I'd also forgotten that he was the 5th Beatle.

When I remembered the brass and how distinctive it made Fats' version, I thought of you and your son.

Now, if Chicago did a version of "Jambalaya," that would REALLY be something....LOL

I think "I'm saving all my love in jail for you" comes from his lesser-known B-side tune, Don't Pick Up The Soap.

And I feel vindicated as a father, since my son is the only person from his age group I've encountered today who even knows who Fats was, let alone is a fan. I guess I did something right, at least.

LOL...

Inspiration for the less bluesy, more angry "Don't Pick Up The Soap Unless You Wanna" by Little Richard, off his album Tails From The Pokey

Overheard conversation between two 20-somethings this morning while filling the gas tank:

Thing 1: Hey did you hear Fats Dominick died?
Thing 2: Who's he?
Thing 1: I don't really know. I heard he was like the Biggie Smalls back in the day.

Uh. No. Not really. Not even close. This was running through my mind but never made it to my lips.
28.) Swamp Fox - 10/26/2017
The aforementioned Rolling Stone retrospective. Not their best work, but then again it's not like they're the paper of record for the music industry or anything ...

Still, it's something.

Even worse. I was listening to a local oldies rock-n-roll station on the way home from work, and the D.J. was talking about Fats' passing and the fact that he posted a bunch of stuff about him on his blog...and then proceeded to play nary a single one of his tunes for the entire hour that it took me to make it home. This is the same station that played Tom Petty's stuff pretty much non-stop for a week after his death.

Didn't Fats start up Dominos pizza? What's all this about music?
31.) Swamp Fox - 10/26/2017
If you eat the pizza backwards it says, "All hail our dark overlord, Gluten."
