From the Swampy News Network:

Colbert goes full "Do something"

Invokes tiger, Gets bit on ass:
In a monologue lamenting the lack of political action in response to mass shootings, late-night host Stephen Colbert unwittingly made the case for more expansive gun ownership.
On “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Monday night, the comedian compared inaction after the Las Vegas and Sutherland Springs, Texas, shootings to a prehistoric human tribe doing nothing in response to persistent tiger attacks.
“Doing nothing, as I’ve said before, is unacceptable,” Mr. Colbert said. “But it’s ― it’s unnatural. It’s inhuman. It just goes against our nature. We want to fix things. You want to respond to something terrible like this.
“Not just now, but at any time in human history,” he continued. “Five thousand years ago, if your village had a tiger coming into it every day and was eating people, you wouldn’t do nothing. You would move the village, you would build a fence or you would kill the tiger. You wouldn’t say, ‘Well, I guess, you know, someone’s going to get eaten every day, because the price of liberty is tigers.’ You’d take some action.”
Users on social media suggested a few ways to thwart tiger attacks:

This is where you need to be ... LOL

:groan:

:omg:
3.) DParker - 11/10/2017
It dismays me that these late night talk show simpletons (Colbert, Stewart, Maher, etc) have managed to convince so many young people that they're really insightful, deep-thinking intellectuals.
4.) Swamp Fox - 11/10/2017
Well, compared to the audiences, they are ...LOL

Buncha trained seals clapping for mackerel ...
5.) Swamp Fox - 11/10/2017
Herring?

I've really taken a shiner to that comment.

Gun controllers make me eel.
16.) bluecat - 11/12/2017
Gun control advocates are just bluefin, they would never really enact such a proposal.
17.) Swamp Fox - 11/12/2017
Took me a couple of minutes ... LOL

If they got something through, it would be a fluke.
If they got something through, it would be a fluke.
+ 3 nice one.
20.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
They always hope their legislation just skates through the legislature.
21.) Swamp Fox - 11/13/2017
Ha! I was saving skate for a special occasion, but now I have a sinking feeling I should have tossed it out there.

Thanks, chum!
22.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
Sometimes you fish sometimes you cut bait.
23.) Swamp Fox - 11/13/2017

LOL ... +4

You're the spawn of the devilfish, you know that?
24.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
Sometimes my puns just won't hold water.
25.) Swamp Fox - 11/13/2017
I'm not going to bail you out if you're self-bailing.

You just need some better lines with good hooks.
26.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
Is that your bottom line?
27.) Swamp Fox - 11/13/2017
Yes.

As a semi-professional clownfish, you could say it's my manta.
28.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
It all sounds good on the surface, but go a little deeper.
29.) Swamp Fox - 11/13/2017
I'd promise to get to the bottom of this, but I think we've plumbed the depth of that particular pun.

I don't want to just spout off in a stream of consciousness, so give me a few minutes and I'll get to the albacore of this.
30.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
Trotting over to the thesaurus are ya?
31.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
It's a knotty problem for sure, end this ridiculous silly thread or endeavor on.
32.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
But keep me in the loop no matter what you decide with this twisted thread.
33.) Swamp Fox - 11/13/2017
Trotting over to the thesaurus are ya?
LOL ... Nah, I've got plenty of bait, but the lack of nibbles in this hole has me thinking of pulling anchor.

In the meantime :
Hand over your weapons

“The time is now,” said Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, “for Congress to shed its cowardly cover and do something.”

Trouble is, it’s not clear the “something” Democrats typically demand would make a real dent in the nation’s epidemic of gun violence. Congress can ban assault weapons, but they account for just a tiny sliver of the country’s 33,000 annual firearm deaths. And tighter background checks will do nothing to cut down on the 310 million guns already in circulation.

[...]

Still, even if we find a way to keep guns out of the hands of people who have engaged in disturbing or violent behavior — no small task, given all the stories of the troubled shooters who slipped through the cracks — it will only get us so far.

The United States’ astronomically high rates of firearm violence aren’t rooted in some unique American propensity for derangement and delinquency. Studies show our levels of mental illness and basic criminality are on par with other wealthy countries.

Other common explanations, like the social fissures created by our racial diversity, have been debunked by researchers, too. The only explanation left — an explanation borne out by a number of careful studies — is the sheer size of the American arsenal. There are 310 million handguns, shotguns, and semi-automatic weapons in American homes, garages, and waistbands.

Ultimately, if gun-control advocates really want to stanch the blood, there’s no way around it: They’ll have to persuade more people of the need to confiscate millions of those firearms, as radical as that idea may now seem.

The muddy thinking is becoming clearer.

More and more lefties are talking openly about confishcation.

If you surf around on the inner net, you come across a lot of these triggeredfish. They're not just trawling. Sure, some of them are aholeholes just trying to get you to bite, but I get more sand in my shorts over the hammerheads who seem willfully ignorant. They really think their croaking makos sense, and if you try to discus (!) facts and logic, they remain bullheaded and refuse to mullet over.
34.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
+ 5 :ach:
35.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
So, if you use same logic for guns as you would on drugs, it should take care of the problem. For example, you can't own, buy, use, make or sell meth and the meth problem went away right? Right? Dumocrats?
36.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
Here's a little tippet for you, "assault is a behavior, not a device".
37.) Swamp Fox - 11/13/2017
Sargassum will only get you so far. They think we're the mouthbrooders, but they're just talking gibberfish.
38.) bluecat - 11/13/2017
Ruh Roe...them's fight'n words.
39.) DParker - 11/13/2017
I'm all out of clever puns, so I'm just going to leave this here:
