I'm sending you a little bit of wind and rain, button up your slicker!!!!
2.) Swamp Fox - 09/10/2018
Somebody asked me Saturday night when the panic was going to start. I said Tuesday but I was wrong. It started Sunday. Eggs, milk, bread, water, flashlights, tarps, sandbags, plywood ... not sure about generators. People forget they won't have cell service, internet, chargers etc. at their disposal. Oh, and gasoline ... I live by the water so I'm good on baths... Going to check on the beer supply right now ...

This could be the big one ... Not that a few of the others weren't ... um ...exciting...
3.) DParker - 09/11/2018
Don't forget the cornmeal, gunpowder, ham hocks and guitar strings!

4.) bluecat - 09/11/2018
I hope you have a good supply of naughty magazines. Stay safe brother.
5.) bluecat - 09/11/2018
Just remember that the Professor made a ham radio out of a conch shell.

Excellent advice! LOL .... +5

I wonder if folks buying all the bottled water will

a)fill the bathtub for flushing the toilet, sponge-baths etc.

b)forget all about that

c)feel guilty about all that plastic contributing to climate change and clogging the landfills
Just remember that the Professor made a ham radio out of a conch shell.
Mary Ann has a GoFundMe ...
7.) bluecat - 09/11/2018
I saw that. Lol, maybe she can sell coconut cream pies.
8.) Swamp Fox - 09/11/2018
The Howells are good for a few bucks ...
9.) Swamp Fox - 09/11/2018
Surf's up, dude ...

10.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
This is the first storm I've been through up here where there's panic buying at the gas pump ... and everywhere else.

Bread and milk ...that's the easy stuff.

We're way beyond that.

A man could make a killing selling sandbags, plywood and window film to ... um ... unsuspecting tourists ...
11.) DParker - 09/12/2018
What's the bourbon situation?
12.) DParker - 09/12/2018
We can take a lesson from these commenters:

13.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
Nice knowing you Chris. According to the Weather Channel its pretty much over for you. High winds will blow your house down and then you'll be washed away in the torrential floods. If you're lucky enough to survive that, you only have 3 days to live clinging to that tree in the middle of the river. You won't be able to drink the contaminated water and all emergency services will be overwhelmed with phone calls.

No chance they're going to get to you. It's just you and the cats, don't expect help from anyone else. Any chance you could build an ark out of the Bronco? You have a canoe right? I'd try to build some type of roof on the canoe and just try to ride it out there. You could probably fit 3 or 4 cats in there with you fairly comfortably. Of course you'll be stuck in it with them for days, possibly weeks. Make sure you throw a couple extra bags of litter in with you.

You still have time to overnight your bow and any decent hunting gear you have to my house, you should still have the address. No sense that stuff going to waste after you drown. You'll have to designate someone to take your place and spread all those email viruses for you.
14.) bluecat - 09/12/2018
So it takes the worst storm in history to get you to post?
15.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
This isn't about me, this is about Chris potentially dying a horrible panic stricken death. Oh the humanity.
16.) DParker - 09/12/2018

Look around, can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?

17.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
I'm worried, he's not responding. He may have already gotten trampled to death by the stampede at Kroegers. Maybe he'll respond to the bat signal, someone try that.

I will award a +5 on the assumption that that show has that kind of dialogue ... LOL

A +6 if that's completely farcical ...

You've never seen Galaxy Quest? It's actually a damned funny movie (starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, et al) that's a send-up of the Trekkie nerd phenomenon.

It might be worth watching to cheer you up while the cats are gnawing on your feet because all of the Little Friskies got washed downstream.
23.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
I will put it on the bucket list ... LOL
24.) bluecat - 09/12/2018

I just got word back from Swampy, he's okay.
25.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
LOL ... I'm stealing that.

At one point, Florence was coming right over the house.

The storm looks like it might track more to the west now and less northwest, which is good news for me but bad news for Camp Swampy and my friends and relations in SC. I expect to lose power and trees will go down here, at a minimum.

It's too soon to say that my picture has improved markedly, but I am much more concerned about folks to the south and southeast of me.

Storm surge at the beach could be as much as 15 feet, and the coastal plain will have major flooding.

26.) DParker - 09/12/2018
The odd thing is that the video shows the storm on more of a northward trajectory than the projected path in the red area.
27.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
The video is a day old, if I'm following you, where the graphic is more current.

I couldn't find a mesmerizing video of an up-to-the-minute track.

I think the hurricane is expected to hit between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach (NC/SC border area for you folks in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin). I think it's still expected to be a Cat 4 when it lands.

28.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
Well, the video keeps disappearing, on and off ---So I bet it's being updated.
29.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
I think the hurricane is expected to hit between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach (NC/SC border area for you folks in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin).
Yeah, anything south of Virginia and we're like, phhhttt what could it possibly hurt down there. From what I've seen of Georgia, the massive clean up might even improve things.
30.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
LOL ... From what I've seen of the roads in Pennsylvania, a hurricane couldn't make things worse ...:nk:

You doing anything about those potholes? :p
31.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
I guess the latest is that it will hit the coast as a Cat 3, most likely, and storm surge will be 9-12/13 feet ... Then the thing is going to basically stall for a few days and dump tons of rain, so flooding will be a problem well inland.

The National Weather Service is calling it "a storm of a lifetime" which is saying something.

CNN is on the case ...
32.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
33.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
I hope you know a good insurance man. :wink Kenny was a good one and a great friend who really made this place come alive. What I wouldn't give for just 30 minutes of the old days on here. Sometimes you never know what you had until its gone. Remember that little short guy Alex that used to post pics of semi-naked girls and fat pigs? I think he must be dead now. Probably a brain tumor or clogged arteries or an unsolved murder, who really knows. I'm thinking a massive brain tumor. You ever see pictures of that guy?

Anyway, keep dry and if you're going to drown let us know in advance. I hate surprises.
34.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
How long can you tread water? You've got the long gangly arms, you should be able to stay up for a good 45-50 minutes easy.
35.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
You're like 6' 2" or something, so 40" of rain is not that big of a deal. Only up to your chest. Now if Alex was down there, that'd be like 3 in. over his head.
36.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
I remember when I crashed ArcheryWorld when I inserted a pic into the title of a thread. He was in Texas with you guys and the whole thing locked up tight. He was really pissed at me. Or maybe it was BowCountry or ArcheryWorld 2, after the second crash of the first site. Or did the second site crash twice? BULLZ-i got the whole thing cancelled, so he one upped me for sure. Man they were mad at him and Hoyt'em and someone else, can't remember who.
37.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
Now I know how it feels to be CrOoKEdEyE. It feels like I'm wasting your time and my time.
38.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
LOL ...

+4

I'll try to let you know of my demise in advance ... :tap: ... LOL

Remember, guys: Irish wake and Viking funeral ... Not the other way around. :wink
39.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
Keep us posted with updates right up until you go under. If you keep the phone lifted above the water while you're on facebook live, we'll be able to see whats going on right up until the current sweeps you away.

Self-expression is never a waste of time for the true artist ...

LOL
41.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
Maybe a final selfie as the whirlpool drags you down. Make sure you have a waterproof case for the phone. Someone will find it in a year or two, if there isn't too much of that silt piled up on your body.
42.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
A selfie stick would give a better shot of the black backwater whirlpool in the background. Try to wait until the lighting is right, like when one of those lightning bolts jumps out of the tornado heading for your town.
43.) luv2bowhunt - 09/12/2018
Even better would be a selfie of the tornado in the background heading for you as you're drowning in the whirlpool. You'd be a YouTube hero if you can get a video of that. Hell, I'd even subscribe to your channel with that kind of content.
44.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
Well, that's because you're easy.

The real coup would be to get Bob Peck as a subscriber, because he is the connoisseur of content ...
45.) DParker - 09/12/2018
Remember, guys: Irish wake and Viking funeral
I've got a bottle of Jameson and a butane torch on standy-by.
46.) Swamp Fox - 09/12/2018
Skol. And bless you, my son.

Just make sure that if there is any shooting of flaming arrows that somebody takes a decent video and posts it.

This place could really use some new material ... LOL

Not only a true artist, but a truth-sayer ....
53.) crookedeye - 09/13/2018
alexs light bulbs ar probally starting to flicker in his basement..
54.) crookedeye - 09/13/2018
alex's lights.. when they start to flicker in his basement, that means theres alot of activity on his forums or ham radios..
55.) Swamp Fox - 09/13/2018
LOL ...

Flickering lights could also mean there's conflict on the forum ... or at least tension ... The lights were going nuts a few years ago ... I heard Alex nearly had an epileptic seizure.

Speaking of conflict:

Some day I'll tell the story about getting blocked by a feminist social justice warrior princess on Twitter with nearly half a million followers.... She took down both tweets I replied to, out of embarrassment I suppose (ref. Pancho and Lefty) because they were so dumb. Fundamental ignorance about how representative government works in this country. (We're the majority; most people think blah bah blah; red-state reps should vote for our blue-state agenda, and other nonsense) ...Yet she's published in major markets.

That's okay. It was fun dogging her for a while. Maybe a few of the clapping seals who follow the dumb bunny thought twice.
56.) Swamp Fox - 09/13/2018
Some day I'll tell the story about getting blocked by a feminist social justice warrior princess on Twitter with nearly half a million followers.
59.) Swamp Fox - 09/13/2018
I was just thinking of buttermilk pie! ... Well, more about chocolate cake ... :wink... But both are good. :-)

Should I move to Texas in my old age? Or are the Californians taking over?

I mean, I'd be a transplant but I wouldn't want to have to put up with other transplants ...

Plus the frickin' tornadoes ...
60.) DParker - 09/13/2018
Should I move to Texas in my old age? Or are the Californians taking over?
We're keeping them at bay so far, but we can't make any promises about the future. 'Course an influx of Bronco-driving, bow-shooting, SJW-taunting tarheels as an offsetting force couldn't hurt.

Just keep that "beef isn't BBQ" talk under your hat and you'd be fine.

61.) Swamp Fox - 09/13/2018

Pretty sure I'm honor-bound to profess that point ... And certainly not to concede it ... Plus there's the whole sweet tea thing, too ...

Hmmm ... Maybe I should look into Louisiana, somewhere close to the Texas border ...

(Reference the old joke about country boys looking for the perfect ... ahem ... female characteristics ...)
62.) luv2bowhunt - 09/13/2018
Saw an update this morning on the Weather Channel. They were salivating over the potential for 40" of rain. Think of the ratings.

Chris, post while you can before the power goes out, load up on carbs and guitar strings. If you get in a tight spot, think...."what would Alex do?". Do NOT walk towards the light if you feel yourself fading.
63.) DParker - 09/13/2018
I was going to make a joke about how long it would take the left to blame Trump for the hurricane...but they beat me to it.

Just a little celebration before the SHTF... It has already for some folks, but my immediate area dodged a bullet, at least for now. We'll see what the prolonged rain does, but so far the winds have been pretty moderate (up to 30 MPH I'd say, but not sustained). I've been up in two or three treestands in about the same. Not fun, but I survived.)

The banks were closed today on the one day I needed to visit, naturally, so I sent a sternly worded letter to management illustrating just exacty how they were a bunch of furry kittens to close branches when it wasn't even raining (which it wasn't until about 3 PM here).

East and south of me, things are less jolly. And there are plenty of localized power outages here. We'll see how this creeping storm uses wind and high water to remind us that it's all grins and giggles until you're the one up to your ass in alligators.
71.) DParker - 09/15/2018
72.) Swamp Fox - 09/17/2018
That is at least a +5, under the circumstances ... I'd almost say that it breaks the scale at a +7.5 for being EXACTLY on point, but then we'd have to recalculate everything.
