Update: Photo updated to add a red circle showing which office is mine.

This is the office building where I work, following yesterday's wind rampage through Dallas. My company occupies the 2nd floor from the top, mostly under the "BancorpSouth" sign, and my personal office is the one just to the right of the "h" in "South". What look like two white vertical beams are the walls. The windows are (or rather, were) floor-to-ceiling, so you can imagine how much shattered glass must be all over inside these offices. We can't get into the building yet, so we have no idea how much damage has been done. It was also raining like hell when this happened, so there's likely significant water damage as well. Fortunately our servers are all in a room in the interior of the building, so at least they're intact...assuming the driving rain didn't flood the floor above ours and then leak down into the server room.

Needless to say there's going to be some productivity loss for this week.
This week?
Some of our stuff is cloud-based, our servers are all backed up to off-site storage and we're hoping that they'll let one or two of us in for long enough to retrieve some of our individual workstations so we can take them home and get some work done from there. So with a little luck we should be able to get something done while things are being cleaned up and repaired. But, yeah...that much is liable to take quite a while. Even after they get all the glass cleaned up, water dried up and power restored I suspect it'll be some time until they get the windows replaced, and there's no way the place will be cool enough to work in until after that happens.

I'm just glad this happened on a Sunday instead of the middle of a work day. The winds came up pretty quickly and without much warning (typical TX weather), and I'm sure that a lot of people would have been seriously injured (or worse) when all that glass came flying in with us all sitting at our desks.

It looks like the scene from Die Hard without the helicopters circling and all the gunfire on the roof. Glad you are okay. Jeez that must have been something.

It's a Christmas miracle no cat videos or pornography downloads were lost is what I hear you saying ...

Oh you were lucky. Where I work we would dream of having windows. We have to carve out a notch in the quarry walls for an office with a hammer and chisel.

You had a hammer and a chisel?
