1.) Swamp Fox - 07/08/2020
Alex, can you fix this?
2.) bluecat - 07/08/2020
Back in the day, we used to screw up all sorts of stuff and we liked it.
3.) Swamp Fox - 07/09/2020
It's how we built up herd immunity.

Nowadays, everybody gets a prize and has a runny nose all the time ...
4.) Swamp Fox - 07/09/2020
Somebody might have to post a real cuss word, spelled properly, to get some attention to this ...

I'll let someone else go first, since I'm already on Double-Secret Probation ...

(I assume .... LOL)
5.) Swamp Fox - 07/09/2020
This article in Rolling Stone is a mess on several levels, but worth a read nonetheless.

Hank Williams Jr. and Charlie Daniels: Inside Their Defiant Politics

Rolling Stone used to be a a great publication.

In fact, in a writing class back in the day, we were asked where we would like to submit this or that piece we were writing, and how we would pitch it/them.

Two of mine that I remember distinctly were profiles on Charlie Daniels and The Marshall Tucker Band, pitched respectively to Rolling Stone and Playboy.

Good times ... good times ...
6.) Swamp Fox - 07/09/2020
It's like a 24-year old who's listened to a couple of singles but never made a single phone call or asked for an interview is gonna tell us what's what ...

She lives in the good part of Brooklyn, by the way ...
7.) Swamp Fox - 07/09/2020
Basically, Rolling Stone up and down the line wants to be clear that it doesn't like Charlie's politics.

(Multiple episodes of this.)

Fine.

Now we're even.

Shut up and type.

Their adulation of the Tsarnaev brothers was all I needed to see.

No, can't say that I have. I did teach a hamster to do the two-step.

Their fustercluck with the "Jackie" (U of Virginia) story put the final nail in that coffin lid.
There's a good part?
Well, it's all relative, I suppose ...

Yes. I'm talking long before those episodes, though.

You used to be able to find great writers and smart commentary at Rolling Stone, particularly during the New/Gonzo Journalism era.

Guys like Hunter Thompson, Tom Wolfe and P.J.O'Rourke probably kept Rolling Stone alive in an entertaining and enjoyable format long enough for it to grab a fingernail-hold on the relatively recent repulsive radical lefty politics that once seemed headed for the ash heap of history.

18.) Swamp Fox - 07/11/2020
I last PM'd Alex about the Music Thread on 7/9.

I'll give it a day or two before we escalate .... LOL ...
19.) Swamp Fox - 07/15/2020
Alex, is the the Music Thread fixable or did I permanently break it with my ode to Charlie Daniels?
20.) luv2bowhunt - 07/16/2020
Alex is in the underground bunker, living on Campbells soup and distilling his own urine for gun powder. He doesn't have time for this site. Heck, he probably doesn't even remember it's still up & running.

If you guys had voted for me back in the day things would be different. Mutiny was the only solution, but you had cold feet. And now.........here you sit in your wretched helplessness, waiting for a miracle from the Wizard of Odd.
21.) crookedeye - 07/16/2020
alex hasnt come out of his underground bunker since the covid started..you no he's depleted from all that campell soup and rice..you no he probally has a beard and his hair is curly now.

25.) Swamp Fox - 07/20/2020
I'm beginning to despair.

I sent Alex PMs on 7/8 and then again on 7/9 for good measure, LOL.

This is no way to run a railroad.

If anyone can locate Deerminator's Friday Music Volume II, point me at it, but I have a feeling it got wiped in one of the BC/HC meltdowns. I think I can put my hands on III. Otherwise, we'll cobble something together ...

Stay tuned, stay classy, and don't pull down any statues that I wouldn't.

33.) Swamp Fox - 08/30/2020
I have a new tuxedo and a spotted tabby, plus Mom (a spotted tabby, just appeared, who goes by the nickname "The New Girl" as have many sluts before her) free to a good home ... In case anyone's interested .... LOL .... And if I can trap them ... Just found out the other day... I've got some thick woods and some nooks and crannies here ... You don't always no what's going on out there outside the wire... There might be a third little guy, but I can't tell yet for sure ...Somebody owes me a cigar, regardless ,,,,

Dad is a rake and a ramblin' man (tuxedo---imagine that), and I doubt I'll catch that midnight rider ...

I think you have BZ mixed up with Aaron Clampton ...
37.) Swamp Fox - 09/05/2020
Really ??? No points for that? ^^^

You're Russian judges, aren't you?

Also: 10 extra comedy points spread out however you'd like them (or desperately need them) on future posts if anyone can come up with and play my "Rake and a Ramblin' Man" reference..

Play it here or on the Lost Music thread ....

did you guys see where johnavicthe tennis player got disqualified for hitting a line judge in the throat..i played 3rd base for 15 years got hit in the throat a couple times..sereana williams threatens to kill a judge and nothing happens to her..i was a hell of a thrid baseman
41.) crookedeye - 09/07/2020
i would like to see bullzi play 3rd base he,d be tripping over his own feet..let alone trying to use a tree sadle..:ach:
42.) bluecat - 09/08/2020
They outlawed tree saddles at 3rd base a long time ago - too many baserunners were getting caught up in the linkage and getting hurt.
43.) Swamp Fox - 09/11/2020
Third Baseman's Lives Matter ...

I remember when I realized everyone thought I'd gotten too old for third base, forget about shortstop.

Moving to second base was like getting shifted from being the Weekend Football Specials bartender to the Darts League Night bartender ...
44.) Swamp Fox - 09/11/2020
