Only in the spelling/grammar Nazi department. You might consider correcting some of the text at the bottom of the "Rates" page to read...
A fine of $250 will be enforced for shooting a buck under the 125" minimum using the Boone & Crockett scoring system. We want to harvest only mature deer, and to let the young bucks grow.

Reminds me of the TPWD public land drawn hunt I went on a few years ago at Fort Boggy State Park, which is just off I-45 in the middle of nowhere. After the morning orientation I asked one of the local good-ol' boys where I could find a place to eat some lunch. He said that if I went back out to the interstate and headed south for about a mile I'd find, "the best Jack-In-The-Box in town". I stole that expression from him and still use it to this day.

"The Landscape"
http://www.weekendwhitetails.com/rules-and-regulations.html

Show pictures of the landscape and preferably many pictures of the landscape. Put them in the same slide show format you used on the "Past Harvest" page. Speaking of that page it's "harvests" as in plural unless there has only been one harvest. It's plural in the header navigation but not on the actual page.

Consider a crop and Photoshop of the trail cam pic (re: monster deer used) under the top navigation for this page. It's one thing to keep the image authentic for the trail cam page but if you're using it as a graphical element (i.e. deer porn) it should be the best it can be.

B.
"About Us"
http://www.weekendwhitetails.com/about-us.html

Excellent photo! Beautiful photo except for the big pie-faced mook in camo. People respond to pictures of other people before they actually read. If there is at least one or two other endearing photos embed them in the written narrative. I'd also suggest a few words about why you started this business, philosophies and how it all came together. Besides people responding to pictures of other people they also respond with their wallets to a good and true story.

C.
Consider a tag line ("Not Just Your Average Saturday & Sunday", "My name is Dave. My wife is the brains of the operation.") something to reinforce the WW brand or what it is you stand for. A stylized logo (betting it's already in the works) would also help. Although this sounds easy (it's not) it takes considerable time and effort to get something good that reproduces well on letterhead as well as banners and T-shirts.

D.
Drugs and alcohol. You shouldn't have to saw a word about either but you might as well get it out there in terms of the rules while people are on your property.

E.
The name of the operation suggests you're only booking weekend hunts.
If this is not true you MUST spell that out. If it is true you should provide a Fri-Sun description of arrival, etc.

F.
Your hunters will fly and/or drive.
Help them figure out logistics by providing maps, drive times, license requirements and providing answers about picking them up at the airport, etc.

Likewise, instead of basically saying Athens is over yonder go find yourself a place to sleep actually do the homework and make recommendations and/or get special room rates with the hotels for your hunters. The hotel will appreciate the referrals and your hunters will appreciate the discount no matter how small.

G.
You may want to consider an FAQ (frequently asked question) page wherein people concerned over the number of hunters allowed on the property at any given time, refund policy, the proximity of stands to the dairy operation, liability insurance, what is there to do after the hunt is over, etc, etc.

I realize some of this information is scattered throughout the site but the point here is to aggregate it all into one common area.

H.
Contact Us
http://www.weekendwhitetails.com/contact-us.html

You're limiting the number of potential inquiries and the opportunity to sell the hunts by *not* listing a phone #. I think I understand why you may have omitted the tel numbers but there are other ways to skin the cat such as adding a line to your existing plan and forwarding it when you have time to field calls.

Also on this page are "artifacts" which are random, nonsense characters. I'm seeing them under the blue on black emails for you and Jess (change this to white on black for legibility) and the artifacts read ${Officehours}. I suspect this is a page coding syntax error that is easily corrected.

I.
Homepage
http://www.weekendwhitetails.com/

Consider either an aerial of your farm or a nice panoramic image of the farm. Something sweeping and epic looking that truly is more of a welcome image.

I also think you could do with some word-smithing on the welcome text and add a call to action like "Book Now!" which links to the "Contact Us" page.

Hope this helps!

One thing I thought about Dave and Bob kinda hit on this. If you ever think you might expand to week hunts, your name will not depict this. Don't paint yourself in a corner. Once you are branded as "weekendwhitetails" or whatever you decide to be, you will have a hard time being something other than that.
27.) bluecat - 05/07/2013
You don't want to pull a Mathews and downgrade any system that isn't single cam and then try and launch a campaign where dual cam bows work good too... :wink

I wanna mainly go for 3 day hunts. When I did this adventure before I was asked a few times about doing a 5 day hunt. Of course at that time I couldn't because of work. Now that's no my a problem I wanna open up more options for the hunters. I understand our name is going to throw off a few but I personally like the name and its catchy. Lets face it most of us are weekend worriers in the woods any way. That's IMO. I will be going over a changing a few things though.

In y'all's case (how often do you get to use TWO apostrophes in a single word?) it isn't even so much the beans. That level of chili ignorance can be dealt with. But when you're putting boiled beef and cinnamon in your soup, pouring it over spaghetti and calling the resulting mess "chili" then I think that might fall outside my ability to correct.

But we're off into Podunk territory now.

My personal opinion beyond his advice, DO NOT post a google earth image of the property. They contain lat/long info and the last thing you need are yahoos figuring out where your hot stands are and going in there when you aren't around. If you must use a google earth image, MAKE sure you crop out the lat/long and name it something else while saving it in a different format so there's no information on the photo "properties" to allow people to easily punch the location into their GPS and find your place.

Now, about charging an arm and a Jess......
