1.) Swamp Fox - 06/13/2013
This is the opposite of where Gman arrives at your front door, stinks up your couch, guzzles your liquor, oggles your women and insults your dog.

Instead, you are in North or South Carolina, or southern Virginia—I call this my Sphere of Influence--and you let me know so we can make civilized plans to meet somewhere to have a bite, get a drink, or get some hunting or fishing in. Strength training at Camp Swampy is always an option if you are man enough.

Tuesday of this week was Episode 2 of my 2013 season (Battle Mountain being Episode 1) as I got to meet the inimitable Dan-o, who came in slam from Ohio, as they say. I got a Dan-o Deal, naturally, as he was gracious enough to spring for supper, which we gobbled down at one of the area's best Q shacks, The Backyard BBQ Pit in the no-man's land between Durham and Raleigh. If I'd known Dan-o was gonna buy, I would have gone for lobster. :wink As it was, some lady from Texas got there right before we did and got the last of the pulled pork (Damn furriners! :bang::-)), so we had BBQ chicken and brisket, which they also do a good job of. Gotta love a place that still does things right, with a smokehouse and fire pit right in the back. :tu:

Afterwards, I took Dan-o for some very good buttermilk pie with whipped cream and blackberry sauce and an adult beverage at Papa Mojo's Roadhouse, which is run by musician Mel Melton, who you have to see if he's ever in your area. Hope to see Dan-o again so we can have another shot at getting him some authentic eastern NC BBQ....The same goes for you other goobers.

If vacation or business plans bring you to "the area", give me a shout. I don't want to hear about your trip to Myrtle Beach or that you were at the Hollering Contest in Spivey’s Corner this weekend, or that you couldn’t find anything to do in Lizard Lick, Erect, Bat Cave, Possum Trot, Speedwell, Fairy Stone, Roper, Aynor, Cary or wherever…Not if you don’t wave as you’re coming through…

Sounds like these towns are filled with backwood's gnomes and sprites
3.) Dan-o - 06/13/2013
Thanks for the hospitality Swampy! I had a blast. Ill be in touch next trip!
4.) Swamp Fox - 06/13/2013
Heck, thank you for supper!

Looking forward to another episode!

BTW, guys, no pics but it did happen. :-)

Hey, I don't want to advertise to the riff-raff.

I'm out! Hey man, forget evil clowns and whatnot. There's nothing...and I mean NOTHING that scared me more as a little kid than those airborne simian bastages...

I hear ya bro. Loud and clear.
10.) Swamp Fox - 06/13/2013
The Oompa Loompas were what freaked me out...
11.) Swamp Fox - 06/13/2013
I mean, he's paying them to make candy, and they show up for work looking like THAT?
12.) DParker - 06/13/2013
Well, they are taking their fashion cues from a guy in a purple coat and a ruffled bow tie.
13.) bluecat - 06/13/2013
They really let themselves go.
14.) luv2bowhunt - 06/14/2013
Next time I have a business trip to Fairy Stone, I'll be sure to look you up.
15.) Swamp Fox - 06/14/2013
Fairy Stone is a beautiful area. eastern southwestern Virginia. Good turkey hunting, very decent deer hunting and some noteworthy smallmouth bass fishing. Nubby took his state record bow buck not far from there, if anyone remembers him.

But I was thinking you might be more of a Nuttville or a Mars Bluff kinda guy. It's also possible you might enjoy Sugar Tit, and Whynot.

:-)

Come up here and you can visit Paradise, which is located surprisingly close to Intercourse PA.
17.) bluecat - 06/14/2013
I hope that Intercourse PA is at a safe distance from Hershey Highway.

Well played, sir. Well played.
20.) luv2bowhunt - 06/14/2013
For those who can't seem to find Intercourse, you can always visit Bird-in-hand, PA.

Which is, contrary to popular belief, not actually worth two in the bush.
