I'm sure the parents of these kids are real winners.

I'm confused. Why aren't the parents thanking him for not caving in any of their little darlings' skulls with that hammer?
3.) Hunter - 06/17/2013
And people wonder what's wrong with the world today! :td:
4.) Swamp Fox - 06/18/2013
I bet this goes on their permanent record...

My family and I were discussing this at dinner last night. I thought the idea of herding them into a closet for a few minutes before the police arrived was actually quite clever.

And where is the owner of the destroyed house? Why isn't he/she speaking up in defense? I wouldn't mind having the alleged child abuser as my neighbor. Least I know he is looking out for me.

"Daniels went as far as to grab one of them by the throat; the boys, they claim, are traumatized by what unfolded." Oh my! The throat?! Not the throat.

Even if this is a true, where's the problem? Oh wait ... I know. The problem is "The parents of the children, claiming that the man threatened the kids with the hammer and was rough with them, insisted that charges be filed." Let's not focus on the Burglary 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree felony charges. Let's divert attention away from the minors (they're just kids after all) and focus on the meany adult. Pleeeeaaase.

Speaking strictly for myself, I'd say the problem is that Daniels failed to apply pressure at a level sufficient for scaring the little turd into thinking that his number was up.
I'd say the problem is that Daniels failed to apply pressure at a level sufficient for scaring the little turd into thinking that his number was up.
Roger that.

So it's starting to sound like, under the circumstances, the arrest of Daniels was fairly routine and probably not an indication of an impending injustice (well, beyond the arrest itself, anyway)...and in fact it might turn out the right way:
But District Attorney Richard Healey told Fox News the parents may be the ones facing charges.

“We are looking into the parents,” Healey said. “The parents of the children may in fact be prosecuted.”

Healey wants to know why the children were out on the streets so late at night and said the parents could be charged with endangering the welfare of their own children.

He also said the children may be responsible for other acts of vandalism around the village.

“It’s a bad situation,” he said. “(These kids are) very young to be engaged in this kind of conduct. We’ve never seen anything like this at that age.”
...and...
As for the fate of Daniels – the district attorney said it’s still under review – but it’s unlikely he will face jail time.

“The case is pending in town court right now,” he said. “There was reasonable cause for the police to make the arrest – but we will decide whether to prosecute.”

And the district attorney hinted that Daniels may not even be prosecuted – once the facts are known.

“It may very well be his conduct – even if he had a hammer – could be justified,” he said. “It’s a little more difficult when you are dealing with an eight-year-old.”
We can only hope they get it right.

As a good parent, I prohibit the use of hammers after 11:00 pm.
