Just traded in my Samsung Focus Windows 7 phone + $99 for an S4. Holy crap, this is one feature-packed piece of personal electronics. I'm seriously impressed so far. I'm still adjusting to the Android way of doing things, but so far everything about it is a major improvement over the Windows 7 interface (I hated that thing).

The slick uses of voice recognition and speech synthesis alone are almost worth the upgrade price I paid.

I'm a big fan of Samsung electronics myself. I have the SII and a Tablet and love them both. When upgrade time comes though, not sure I want an S4. That thing is almost a tablet, they need to make one a bit smaller.

That was a concern for me too at first, until I got to actually handle one. It's not too big, really. It's getting there, but it's still small enough to fit in a shirt or front pants pocket.

I just recently entered the millenium and gave up my "top-up" phone for a real phone. Was able to get a Galaxy S2 for 0.97 and $50 in gift cards. Am learning this thing. Seems pretty nice. I'm now constantly on my daughter to put her phone away and go play like a real person.

Mine is pretty sweet too. You open it up and it has this number pad. You can punch in any number and hit send.

You can call anywhere in the world, pretty high tech stuff. Next they will probably come up with a portable kind of internet thing, but I hear that's years away.

Now that you mention it, I haven't even used it to make a phone call yet. I wonder if it can do that?
10.) XJCraver - 06/25/2013
I've got an SIII, and really like it - big improvement over the HTC phone I was using.

I looked really hard at the Nexus, and the s4, but they're just too dang big for me. I refuse to use a holster, because they all suck, and with an Otterbox on it the phone must fit comfortably in my front jeans pocket. Neither of them would. :-(

Really? I compared the S4 and the S III and they're virtually identical in size, with the S III being slightly thinner.

And I just ordered an OtterBox Defender in black and yellow, so I'm probably going to look even geekier than I already do now.

I don't even see how that's possible, unless you have the baggie gangster jeans on. I don't even feel comfortable with keys in my front pocket.

Possible though I found the OtterBox made the phone feel like it fit better in my hand. Upgraded from an Evo Shift to the SIV definitely worth it even if I can't fit it in my jeans pocket.
14.) DParker - 06/28/2013
My OtterBox showed up today. It's definitely a bit on the bulky side, but without the holster it still fits in my front pants pocket as well as a shirt pocket. It's solid as a rock, and I could probably throw the phone down the driveway without any damage to it. Extra nice features include the removable covers over the headphone jack and USB port, as well as the built-in screen protector (I really hate the film style protectors...they never seem to go on correctly for me).

The only real downside for me is that the power and volume button covers require a little firmer press in order to activate those controls. But I'm already adjusting to that and probably won't even notice the difference before long.

I like it.

This is just a test post. I created it entirely using voice recognition on my phone because I'm too lazy to type now. Pretty cool.

OK, so here's a video I took in my backyard using a fun little app called "FX Guru" that allows you to mix special effects in with video taken with your camera. I now live in District 9.

My wife's new truck uses voice commands for almost everything. I told her that I can't ride with her now because she never stops talking! :dig:

Oops! Sorry about that. I forgot that "Private" was the default for new videos. I've fixed it now.

24.) luv2bowhunt - 07/01/2013
Should be alot easier to find bigfoot with the FXGuru.:-)
25.) Swamp Fox - 07/01/2013
So, when I feel a need to get a smart phone in a few years, the S4 Android is the one I should get?
26.) bluecat - 07/01/2013
In a few years you'll want the S10...
27.) Swamp Fox - 07/01/2013
If it lasts as long as my S10 Blazer did, I'll be happy. I got something like 385 or 395, 000 miles out of that sucker.

Just be sure to change the virtual oil every 6,000 calls/texts and you should be good-to-go.
