Just two more days and we are on the way to Eastern CO to shoot some goats!!! Havent killed one of those amazingly foul smelling critters, but , since i didnt draw a muley tag this year, im ready !!

Four days of sitting in hot blinds by water and possibly crawling around in cactus stalking x the prairie. What could possibly be more fun?:hb:
2.) Ohbuckhunter - 08/26/2013
Rattle snakes would be cool too.
Congratulations to all 3 of you. How far were the shots?
Kenny's was 16 yards, my dads was 70, and mine was 50, then 60, then 60.
18.) Forkie McRut - 09/01/2013
3rd time's a charm. :tu:

Can't see yours or Kenny's but your dad's is right in the boiler room. Beautiful country you were hunting in.

All three were a charm! :)

But the third was the one that ended the chase. I got my money's worth. Got to stalk him 3 times :)
20.) Ventilator - 09/02/2013

Well, here is the entrance hole on my antelope. Quite a hole I thought! Lol
21.) crookedeye - 09/02/2013
dano could you have gotten close enough just to club him in the head?
22.) Dan-o - 09/02/2013
dano could you have gotten close enough just to club him in the head?
Only after he was dead. They cover a lot of ground quickly. I've never seen anything like it. I'm addicted to antelope now. Spot and stalk hunting for these things is an awesome experience.
23.) crookedeye - 09/02/2013
that final hit just to make sure he's really dead...

man that looked like you guys had a great time.. nice going again.

Thanks Buddy. It was the trip of a lifetime. 3 for 3 on antelope, and the elk hunter in camp showed up, hunted one day, and killed a nice 6x7.
25.) Swamp Fox - 09/02/2013
Congrats to all. How'd the water hole hunting go vs. the spot n stalk?

Did you use any sneaky tricks like dressing up in a cow suit or wearing a unicorn hat?

What was the cute waitress situation?

We want details. man!
26.) Ohbuckhunter - 09/02/2013
Did u have the toxic with you at least.

They have had a bunch of rain lately, so there were a lot of water options for the goats. That made water sitting a long and boring proposition. Kenny scored over water the first night, but all other water sits were unproductive. We tried that umbrella blind that has a cow slip cover on it, but that didn't work out. Stalking behind any available cover got me within range a few times, but the goats were spotting me as I was trying to get drawn and spooking. Finally I was able to get way in front of a big herd and ambush them.

We only went to one restaurant for one meal, and the waitress was butt ugly! Nothing good going on that front. Food was great, scenery was beautiful, great weather, tons of animals, and lots of laughter. We shot prairie dogs after we tagged out and Kenny whacked a coyote running at about 150 yards with the .17 HMR that we borrowed from the outfitter. That gun really impressed me.

I took it but I stuck with the expandables because it was windy at times and clear that shots up to 90 yards would be required. I had it in the quiver and was going to use it if I sat over water and a 20 yard shot would be needed. I'm curious to see how it will do.

Awesome congrats everyone.
Great hunt. What's antelope taste like?
32.) Ventilator - 09/03/2013
Antelope actually is pretty damn good! Especially when Dan-o`s dad cooks it up. That man is a mean chef!!

As for the hotties, we had two actually. Dan-o is leaving out details so as to not hurt swampys feelings. :wink

Our cook was named Serenity, she was pretty hott considering we were 1500 miles from home. The second hottie we encountered while out on a long walk in the sand the last night. I guess when she saw me an dano walking back up the hill she couldnt resist. she hopped out of her car in a pair of hot blue shortie shorts and long blond hair. We gladly offered to close the gate BEHIND her. :) No reason not to be polite. And to think , she lived right down the street the whole time. Just a hot girl next door. lol

See, I shouldn't have asked just about cute waitresses.

I wasn't expecting women cooking and opening gates for y'all.

Every big trip I've ever been on it was self-serve baloney sammiches in the motel room and "Swampy, are you still having trouble with that fencepost?"

:wink
