As much as I disagree with Kagan's constitutional interpretations at times (on the 2A, most notably) and her politics in general, I do firmly believe in giving credit where credit is due. She pledged to do something that was outside of her normal experience and at least somewhat at odds with her political predispositions and she followed through, and obviously did it with an open mind. So much so that she's willingly gone back and done it multiple times, and seems to enjoy it...even stepping up from shotgunning birds to taking a rifle after medium-sized game (antelope). Yeah, I know this doesn't mean she's suddenly converted to being a firm believer in non-infringement of the RKBA. But it's something, and I'll take it.
