Russian rifles designed 122 years ago, and most likely manufactured 70+ years ago, are still being put to use as sniper weapons by the FSA. Obviously these guys could use some training...and some lower scope rings so they can get something resembling a cheek weld...but I find it interesting that such a relatively ancient (and downright cheap) firearm is still capable of being an effective combat arm (assuming these guys are actually capable of aiming):

Bonus points to Yassir al-Bubba here for his creative use of a busted-up elliptical machine:

Don't be too quick to judge. Snipering can be a terrific cardio exercise.

It makes sense though, now that I think about it. The Syrian ex-pat (and now ex-PM of the Syrian rebels) I told y'all about that I used to work with told me that when he was in high school they had a compulsory ROTC-ish curriculum for male students that involved drilling with (unloaded) Mosins that were supplied by the Soviets many years ago. So I'm betting that there are countless crates of the things that were sitting around at the country's high schools, with a lot of them having since been "appropriated" by some of the less-well-supplied factions of the FSA.

They make for good shop projects. At the very least you can get your sniper merit badge - father, son bonding.

So they ought to be happy with the newly non-importable M1's we could be fixin' to think about maybe sending them...sooner or later...

I'll bet that guy in the video got a hell of a case of scope-head after that last shot...

 That was exactly my first thought when I watched it too. I've never encountered a rifle scope with a 1" eye-relief, so I'm betting he couldn't really even see anything. I imagine he was just accompanying the guy who does all of the real shooting and just kept whining about wanting to take a shot and get some footage of him being a hero of the revolution so chicks'll dig him. So Achmed the sniper finally said, "OK Habib, give me your iPhone take the gun. Now, you need to get your eye reeeeaaaal close to the scope. Nope...closer. Closer...."

If he lives long enough, he'll be able to show them his scar from the war...Chicks dig scars...
