You know why the streets of Italy have no trees?

Because after marching in the shade of Parisian boulevards, the Germans enjoy some sunshine.
4.) Swamp Fox - 03/06/2013
Oh, c'mon! Nobody likes Italian jokes?

I got about a million of 'em!

I'm Polish on my father's side, so I get defensive whenever any other ethnic group tries to steal our thunder.

Mark E. Kelly, gun-control proponent and husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, recently purchased an AR-15 (an "assault weapon," he called it)—which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws.

I saw that one yesterday and was baffled by the point he claims (which I'm not sure I'm buying) he was trying to make. Are we supposed to be appalled by the fact that a former U.S. astronaut with no criminal record passed an FBI background check and was able to buy a semi-automatic rifle?
19.) Swamp Fox - 03/12/2013
Exactly. "It's too easy." The background checks in dark alleys are pretty scary compared to a gun store.

That's not what you want. You want them to be equally scary.
20.) bluecat - 03/12/2013

I couldn't have made this up if I'd tried.

Believe it or not, Al's not full of crap on this one (this time). I've been reading about this particular effort for a couple of years now. Brilliant idea, really...

Reminds me of the reported IRS move to tax the value of a "collector" baseball hit into the stands a while ago...Don't ask me which baseball, or who hit it, because I leave that stuff up to people like Crookedeye...

It's good to be the king...

Who does he think he's fooling (save for his own choir)?
"...it's scary to think people can buy similar guns without background checks at gun shows or on the Internet"
The man's a former astronaut, so I know he's not stupid enough to not know what a load of crap that is.
"told CNN on Monday that it was important for him to have firsthand information on the ease of buying guns such as the AR-15"
See above. They both have owned guns for quite a while, and already knew exactly what the procedure was. The man is a pathological liar.
26.) Swamp Fox - 03/13/2013
Liars, yes. But I would like to know if, like Obama said of himself, he "actually believes his own bullshit."

That would be worthy of a whole chapter in some psychiatry book.

I often ask the same question regarding people like this. But in this particular case it looks likes it's just a quick (and piss-poor) excuse he cobbled together after being outed for being a hypocrite. He didn't say squat for 3 days after buying the rifle, and even then it was only after Breitbart blew the whistle on him, and his anti-gun organization was confronted with the information.

I especially like this one...
During the interview, Kelly criticized the AR-15 as a “deadly” weapon “designed for the military”
As opposed to that 1911 he bought along with it (and is keeping).
28.) Swamp Fox - 03/13/2013
I think he deserves a UTI-----an Uncle Ted Intervention.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering too.
30.) DParker - 03/13/2013
Wow. Associated Press publishes a decent and honest debunking of the "40% of gun transfers occur without a background check" clap-tap that's been regurgitated so much lately. You could have knocked me over with a feather:
