The rapidly expanding catalog of planetary systems so far discovered suggests that they're the norm rather than the exception, which is pretty cool. However, as far as you and I are concerned, at a distance of 20 light years this one may as well be in another galaxy...though perhaps not for our grandchildren. There's pretty exciting stuff ahead for future generations if we can just keep from killing each other off, or if something else (asteroid, disease, etc) doesn't do the job for us.
