Bummer. Johnny Winter has passed at the age of 70.

That's a blast from the past...If that was an album cover, I vaguely remember it.

His brother Edgar was much more prominent when I was growing up, though, at least in my circle. I can't remember developing a lasting fondness for anything either of them did back in the day, but then again I never bought any of their albums so I don't know the deep tracks, LOL. Anything that Edgar did that made it to the radio had a unique sound. I remember that much, LOL. I think the only time I noticed Johnny/saw him personally was at concerts when he would jam as a guest. The Allman Brothers comes to mind. I'm sure he sat in on other stuff I listened to, though.

I'll have to go back and listen to both of them to see if I missed anything when I was a young punk...:-)

I went to go see JW twice - once in '85 and again in '87. Both times the concerts were in small venues (bar/concert hall) and both were great shows. I think he never really received the credit he should have for his music. He worked hard; both his shows were 3 hours long...not like these pansy hour long shows these current poop stars pander off as 'entertainment!'

I don't think I realized he'd played at Woodstock.

Thanks for the sampler, D!
