It doesn’t have to be hunting- or outdoors-related, but such pictures are welcome. Post your captions for pictures as they are posted-- as well as your pictures begging for captions--- along with any social commentary you feel compelled to share. 

I’ll post the first picture. When you run out of captions for this one, post a new picture for us to work on. LOL

This one is from Peterson’s Bowhunting 2015 Gear Guide. I know some girls who like Rascal Flatts. That’s about all I can say about them without using bad words. This article was trying to associate singer Gary LeVox with “country” (attitude, lifestyle and music) in a promotion for Mossy Oak’s new Breakup Country camo pattern. (BTW: Thank you, MO, for another dense, overly complicated pattern that only qualifies as camo in staged advertising photo shoots with just the right light and background :re:).

I don’t believe Gary LeVox and Rascal Flatts would know “country” if it bit them in the ass, despite the party line that he went to school "in the middle of a cornfield" and really can shoot a bow. For God’s sake, the article begins with him running into the “posh” Parlour 4 Beauty Salon (ooh-la-la) “breathlessly” and apologizing to his “personal stylist” for running late. :omg: :bang:

So my first caption for this photo is: “Thay, thailor! Does this camo make me look country?”

Look at me, I'm a man's man. I can play this here guitar and also shoot this here bow they put in my hands moments before the shoot.

By the way, what are these big wheelie dohickies on the end here? Is this wind-powered?

I'm stealing this, but it's too good not to, LMAO...

It's from a hunting blind/shooting house company advertisement. :ach:

65.) Swamp Fox - 03/23/2015
Man, I post something archery-related and I still have to bump it myself...I gave it 5 hours...:re: :tap::wink

"I don't always use a binocular harness, but when I do I prefer to wear it around my crotch. Stay zippered, my friends."
66.) Swamp Fox - 03/23/2015
"I don't always use $2500 binoculars in a $2000 shooting house, but when I do, I prefer to shoot a $20 wheel bow from the 80's, four-inch vanes, aluminum arrows and a death grip. Stay frugal, my friends."
67.) Swamp Fox - 03/23/2015
"I don't always shoot an overdraw, but when I do, I prefer to pull past my ear and pretend I am anchored. Stay Oriental, my friends."

68.) Deerminator - 03/23/2015
How come the guys don't wear those nipple protectors.
I'd shoot against them any time

Them some long ass bows too.
69.) Swamp Fox - 03/23/2015
You know that in 9000 years, somebody must have had a nip ripped, LOL. They've had plenty of time to figure out how to make sure that never happens again. :wink

http://www.kyudo.com/kyudo-h.html
70.) Wild Bob - 03/23/2015
Now that' just an awkward way to shoot IMHO.

What's their anchor point.......Zen?! :wink (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)
71.) Swamp Fox - 03/23/2015
If you look at the guy in the shooting house from a different angle (the pics are out there) you can see he has no anchor whatsoever. No vane on his cheek, no nothing, LOL.

The people on the phone at that blind company are just as nice as they can be, but whoever put the photography shoot together should be beaten with a fast flyte string and teardrop cables. Maybe pelted with California roll. :wink
72.) Swamp Fox - 03/24/2015
Anybody else getting a black x box where my picture of the goofball in the shooting house should be?

75.) Swamp Fox - 03/27/2015
That's weird. The pic came back up for a while yesterday but now it's gone again. I'll try to find it from a different source and repost. Maybe that will solve the problem.

I don't see what the hoopla is about. String to bottom of ear lobe, fletching to corner of mouth, broadhead tucked just behind front of riser and behind bow hand. Perfect.
79.) Swamp Fox - 03/27/2015
LOL...Here's another view. The vane isn't on his cheek, but I didn't notice the kisser on the jawbone before until I blew the pic up to 11...So yeah, he's good to go...:-)

81.) bluecat - 03/27/2015
LOL!

Take a look at how much string is actually in the nock.

Send it!
82.) bluecat - 03/27/2015

"I don't always get curly vane from contacting my cables but when I do it's because I torque the string, like this."
83.) Deerminator - 03/27/2015
Get a different release like the True Fires. They swivel so you can't torque the string.

Ya drew right passed your kisser button.

And what's your hand doing so far away from your face?

Looks like your draw length is way too long.

Get that bow off your knee.

What happen to your other arrows? yer miss'n 2.

The overdraw ain't really necessary. Get carbon arrows.

Hope you clear the window.:tu:
84.) bluecat - 03/27/2015

Nineteen eighties overdraw system with aluminum arrows. Check. Vulcan death grip on riser and release. Check. Draw length too long. Check. Kisser button on side of face. Check. Noise suppressor mistaken for peep sight. Check. Imitating fall hunting scenario in the summer. Check. Bow comfortably stabilized against knee. Check. Absence of broadhead or field point. Check. Foam camo slippers. Check. Swarovski binoculars. "Priceless...Hey who took my binoculars? I had them on just a minute ago."
85.) Deerminator - 03/27/2015
Forget the bino's. If the critters are that far away, ya can't shootum anyhow.
86.) Deerminator - 03/27/2015
They are fantastic bino's buy the way.:wink

89.) Swamp Fox - 11/30/2016
Man, I hope that hunting blind picture isn't gone permanently...I don't think it's on this laptop. Maybe the other one.

It was too good to lose.

If anyone has a pic or a link or even the company name, shoot it over to me.
90.) Swamp Fox - 11/30/2016
It's in the slideshow here...I'm trying to figure out if I can save it for posterity in case the black box strikes again.

The more I think about it, maybe the guy who designed those shirts that you don't tuck designed the romper for men.

I can't imagine how many years it would take to develop something like that. How was he able to split time between his tuckless shirts and the R & D involved with the romper?
162.) Swamp Fox - 05/16/2017
Not that many years, but a lot of dorm room pizza and Angry Birds. It's four business school students behind it...You should read the Kickstarter page. They're raising money, and well above goal.

"I don't always pose for magazine articles about shooting tips, but when I do I make sure to have medical personnel standing by."

*****

This was in a recent, very slick magazine and I assume this picture is of the author, a former Rangers sniper team leader, who was also the photographer (or at least he was given credit for the photography). I don't think there's any way the camera angle is making it look a lot worse than it really is.

The article also shows a rifle barrel resting on a tree limb for support while aiming, and if you are skimming you might miss where the author says don't do that. There's no such warning about crawling your stock, which I find basically impossible not to do from a sitting position as pictured.

I basically had a flashback, sharp pain and saw stars again when I came across this pic, but tell me if you think I'm all wet about looking cockeyed at it. It would be less of a head-scratcher (head-clutcher?) for me if this came from a youtube video by some tacticool kid trying to land a hunting show, but here we are.

And don't forget to leave a caption...LOL
Stari Most in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
For 427 years the Mostar Bridge stood strong, despite the belief that its original mortar was composed of egg whites. Truth is, not much is known about the 16th-century construction of this bridge in what is now known as Bosnia and Herzegovina. All that remains in historical records are memories and legends and the name of the bridge's builder, Mimar Hayruddin. He was charged by Suleiman the Magnificent to build an unprecedentedly wide arch, and threatened with death if the structure failed. Hayruddin is said to have been so unsure of his creation that he made funeral preparations before the scaffolding was removed.

Luckily (and much to the builder's probable relief), the arch remained intact. Suspended nearly 80 feet above the Neretva River, the highest point of the bridge's arch rose an additional 39.5 feet. Upon its completion in 1566, it was the widest arch ever built, stretching 90 feet across. The bridge was compared by one explorer to 'a rainbow arch soaring up to the skies.'

Known locally as Stari Most, or 'Old Bridge,' it was finally brought down in November 1993 after being hit by a barrage of shells in a targeted attack during the Bosnian War. Considered a treasure of Bosnian Islamic architecture, its destruction by Croatian forces was condemned around the world. Scholars referred to the act as an attempt at 'killing memory.' Due to the cultural significance of the bridge in the Mostar region, plans to rebuild it as accurately as possible began at the war's end. The reconstructed bridge was unveiled to the public in 2004. Used for normal daily activities, the bridge also has history as a popular spot for annual diving competitions.----- Bing Image 6/23/22
.......
