My rain gage registers 14.80" since 5 am yesterday, who invented this El Nino anyway? Is this a sick trick from Luv2 or BULLZ-i?:bang:

And we still have potential fallout from the hurricane next weekend.

I heard I-45 is flooded out and closed near Corsicana. Is that true?
3.) DParker - 10/24/2015
That's what I love about Texas weather. It doesn't half-ass anything. We go right from hardcore drought one day straight into "Honey, I think we should stock the yard with trout" the next, with nothing in between.
4.) DParker - 10/25/2015
The area Billy's in has pretty much gotten the worst of all this. To give you an idea of what's going on, this happened just north of where he is in Navarro County.

5.) Swamp Fox - 10/25/2015
I saw that earlier today. I wonder if the water pushed the train, or if the tracks washed out (that seems more likely, since I'm not sure that water's very deep). I know they say one foot will push or even float a car, but I'd guess it takes more than that for a freight train.
6.) DParker - 10/25/2015
Yeah, if you look near the bottom of the photo, just above where the guys are standing you can see that the tracks are all jacked up starting just before the water covers them. It looks like the ground under the tracks got washed out enough for them to collapse under the train.
7.) Swamp Fox - 10/25/2015
I hope you all have some good-looking weather babes. That's about the only way to get through something like this...

I know he had water (nearly?) come in the house during the last big rain. Hope you all escape unscathed. No fun.
8.) DParker - 10/25/2015
Well, we can't match the cootchie-cootchie weather girls that Mexico does so well...but Colleen Coyle is pretty cute.

9.) Swamp Fox - 10/25/2015
I wouldn't kick her out of the news room for eating crackers. :tu:

One of my favorite things to do at Battle Mountain was to watch the Spanish-speaking car dealership sales girl on mute on Sunday mornings...LOL...Don't ask me what dealership...But it was worth getting a later departure flight for...

Dang! Hope everything is ok.
We missed most of it. Only 2.5 inches here
11.) billy b - 10/25/2015
It's about over here now, total in the last two days at my house is 19.58", almost got water in the house, an inch higher it would have came in the patio doors. All 22 gates are open on the lake, it is 3 feet over flood stage, some boats that were in slings are now loose in the lake & with a strong north wind they will end up at the spillway, I have never seen it like this. My son, wedding was last night in Dallas, we couldn't get to the rehearsal Friday because of water over the road in Corsicana, we sat on the highway for 5 hours with no way to turn around. Come on El Nino:hb: Wes D Parker Colleen is my sweetie.
12.) BULLZ-i - 10/25/2015
SOOOO, TYPICAL SEATTLE DAY?
13.) billy b - 10/26/2015
yes:bang:

You might want to keep that to yourself.

Wow! Be safe...

The good news is that the current is good for the fishing (or at least it would be here) and there will soon be some inexpensive boats on the market in the Dallas metroplexiburb geo-statistical area...

Me: "My name is DParker, and I'm a Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplexual.

Group: "Hi, DParker!"
18.) Swamp Fox - 10/26/2015
LOL...

I always get a kick out of hearing "metroplex"...

It makes me gag almost as bad as when I hear "uptown Charlotte"...which is really central Charlotte,, or--you know---downtown. :re::bang::bad:

[I]Charlotte Center City is often referred to as "Uptown" by locals, although the term "Downtown" can also be used since they do not reference different areas of the city.

The history of the dual names is contested, yet prior to the mid-late 1980s, the term "Downtown" was used by residents, media and city leaders for the Center City. During the 1980s, a massive campaign was launched to revamp the image of the downtown area and the term "Uptown" was introduced to the general public. On February 14, 1987, the Charlotte Observer began using the term "Uptown" as a way to promote a more positive upbeat image of the Center City area.[5] School teachers were provided with "historical" documents justifying use of the term to teach to students. (Proclamation designating central shopping and business district as Uptown Charlotte by City of Charlotte Mayor John M. Belk on September 23, 1974)

Well, to be fair...."metroplex" is just a lot easier to say than, "population center consisting of 212 individual incorporated cities and an additional 28 unincorporated towns."
20.) Swamp Fox - 10/26/2015
Call me old fashioned...If I'd been on the focus group, I would have voted for "greater Dallas metropolitan area" the way every other populous area does it, and told Ft. Worth and Plano to just bite me...:wink

Also, I like how it's the "Dallas-Ft. Worth-Arlington" area...

Reading left to right the way we do it in AMERICA, it should be the "Ft. Worth-Arlington-Dallas area"---Again, Plano can suck it...LOL
21.) Wild Bob - 10/27/2015
It sounds so...City like. :-)
22.) Deerminator - 10/28/2015
City folk are just ca, razy
23.) Hunter - 10/30/2015
Dang, we lucked out again with the rain. Only got a heavy drizzle while the bad stuff went to the east of us. Over 12 inches north of San Antonio this morning. Flooding is bad. Hope it fizzles out some before it gets up Billy's way
24.) Swamp Fox - 10/30/2015
Wow...I hadn't heard about that.

It's been wetter than normal for this time of year here as well, I think. Or maybe it's just always raining when I need it to be dry, so I notice it more...LOL.
25.) DParker - 10/30/2015
It never ceases to amaze me how selectively rain manages to target entire weekends during hunting season here.
26.) Swamp Fox - 10/30/2015
Bingo...I try to string a bunch of dry days together all in a row and it hasn't been happening....

It's worse for spring fishing around here, though...

But on the other hand, I'm more willing to fish in the rain than to hunt in it.

Even so, I was better at either one of them 20 years ago than I am now..LOL

28.) Hunter - 10/30/2015
Hunting is brutal right now. Everything has greened up, acorns swelled up and dropped..... Deer couldn't care less about corn! Not to mention the mosquitoes are horrendous!
29.) Swamp Fox - 10/30/2015
LOL...I'm sorry...I don't mean to LOL...but LOL...

"Tell us exactly where you are, Kerry."

"Well, I'm on the east side of a post oak tree on the north end of the golf course, on the second big limb up from the bottom...It looks like I'm 20 feet up, but it's probably really only 15..."

"We wish you all the best, Kerry."

Yuup we lucked out, just got 1.8" so far today with more coming this way tonight. So far it hasn't been as hard as the other day.
