It couldn't have been Luv2. He never bags a deer.
3.) Swamp Fox - 03/27/2013
Hey, if it's brown it's down.

:wink
Hey, if it's brown it's down. :wink
That's for hunting the UPS parking lot, isn't it?
5.) Swamp Fox - 03/27/2013
I suppose you're right.

For deer hunting in Walmart lots it should be "Everyday low cholesterol."

:-)
6.) luv2bowhunt - 03/27/2013
Typical day in the PA 'woods'. He probably just got confused at the parking lot, thought it was the State Game Lands. Would've had about the same turnout at each place.

Not surprised by that story in the least. Only surprise to me is that he didn't have a cart full of Cheetos and Pennzoil to contend with before firing.
7.) Deerminator - 03/27/2013
He did get the deer.
That's the important thing.

LOL...Would you suggest I try that before I try scrapple? I'm not sure if I'm down for the whole Pennsylvania dining experience all at once...

ditto...scrapplel just isn't right
10.) DParker - 03/27/2013
Oh, I don't know. From Wikipedia's "Scrapple" entry...
Scrapple is typically made of hog offal, such as the head, heart, liver, and other trimmings, which are boiled with any bones attached (often the entire head), to make a broth. Once cooked, bones and fat are discarded, the meat is reserved, and (dry) cornmeal is boiled in the broth to make a mush. The meat, finely minced, is returned to the pot and seasonings, typically sage, thyme, savory, black pepper, and others are added.[SUP][/SUP]
Meat, grain and spices. Sounds like food to me.

"Let's give it to Mikey..."

:wink
12.) Swamp Fox - 03/27/2013
"A few years after the commercial appeared, a false urban legend spread that the actor who had played Little Mikey had died after eating an unexpectedly lethal combination of Pop Rocks (a type of carbonated hard candy) and soda, causing his stomach to inflate with carbon dioxide. However, as A) Gilchrist isn't dead and B) Pop Rocks contain less carbon dioxide than half a can of soda, the legend is false."---Wiki

LOL
13.) DParker - 03/27/2013
I remember that one (including the nonsense about him dying the Pop Rocks death)! But then again, I remember Rodney Alan Rippy, too.

I'm so old.

"Scrapple is typically made of hogoffal, such as the head, heart, liver, and other trimmings, .....and (dry) cornmeal is boiled in the broth to make a mush."

OK now I've got a problem with that. Scrapple and mush are 2 entirely different things. Anyone with even a hint of Amish in them knows that.

I'm neither Amish nor a Scrapple expert...and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...but I read that to mean that the "mush" is just the result of boiling the cornmeal in the broth. Adding the meat and spices into that is what results in "Scrappel".
16.) DParker - 03/27/2013
...is what results in "Scrappel".
Er..."Scrapple".
17.) Jon - 03/28/2013
Delaware is also well known for Scrapple, we even have an "Apple Scrapple Festival" although I've never participated.
Scrapple is cooked a few different ways, in my opinion, cut thin and fried is best. It has to be crispy to suit my taste.
Just because pig lips and noses are used in the ingredients doesnt make it nasty!

That's sig line material right there.
19.) Deerminator - 03/28/2013
Looks yucky
20.) Swamp Fox - 03/28/2013
God help me, but now I want to see one good scraple recipe and one good mush recipe so I can conpare the relative concept of "good".
21.) luv2bowhunt - 03/28/2013
Mush

Scrapple

Jon is right, with scrapple, fried is the only way to go.
22.) Swamp Fox - 03/28/2013
Well, now I know! Thanks, guys.
23.) bluecat - 03/28/2013
Swampy, I just got an email with the subject line stating "Ancient secrets of rich loving life" from a domain I've never heard of. Should I open it? The suspense is killing me.
24.) Swamp Fox - 03/28/2013
Sure, what the hell...

But I know nothing about it.

:-)
25.) Leighton - 03/29/2013
I thought Swampy hung around Wall Marts to try and pick up women but he's probably checking for signs of deer . Mind you I should think it's hard to tell the difference with some of those women who shop there.:wink
26.) DParker - 03/29/2013
Well, one helpful clue is that the deer generally speak better English than most WalMart shoppers.
