1.) Deerminator - 04/23/2013
If ya caught the Friday music vid post I mentioned that Sweetie had me at the doctors and told them to give me the works.
Well they did. Doctor big knuckle gave it to me. Prolly poop a water melon now.
Cardio looks good but there's a spot on my left lung they want to look at so I'm scheduled for some scans.

Good news is the tooth ache is gone:-)
2.) bluecat - 04/23/2013
I hate Dr. Jelly Finger. Keep us posted on your scans.
3.) Deerminator - 04/23/2013
Will do
:tu:
4.) grandpawrichard - 04/23/2013
Good Luck with the scans! I hope that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you my Friend!

Dick
...Good news is the tooth ache is gone:-)
LOL

Good luck on the follow ups!
6.) DParker - 04/23/2013
And don't be so easy next time. Make him at least take you out for some dinner and dancing first.
7.) Triton Rich - 04/23/2013
If there's one thing that will make you forget a toothache......
8.) Triton Rich - 04/23/2013
Hope the scans all come out clean Bud!
9.) CHRIS - 04/23/2013
what no reach arounds anymore? what's this world coming to?
good luck with the scans.
10.) Deerminator - 04/25/2013
Did the scans. WOW that was way cool. Except for filling me up with the juice they give ya.
And I do mean they fill you up. Dang. But the scanning part was really cool.
They put you on a bed and then through the ring ya go. Complete with space sounds and everything.

They screwed up my blood work. Get this, the 2 cholesterol readings, one was 0 and the other was 3:cf:
Not sure what I have yet I think it's a Lymphoma of some sorts. That's the up date.:tu:
11.) Jon - 04/25/2013
Hope they figure something out quickly. Getting a true diagnosis is sometimes very difficult. I've found out that allowing doctors to herd you like a cow isn't the best option, you must steer the ship yourself and be your own advisor. Seek a second and third opinion and never accept what they say until several people agree.
12.) Swamp Fox - 04/25/2013
That's good advice from Jon. I'd add that if you think docs are taking a wait-and-see approach or being less aggressive from the start than they could be, and if you are uncomfortable with that, kick them in the ass and get them moving. You're supposed to be in charge. Unfortunately sometimes you are just a case number or they are "practicing medicine" ---or both---and you might as well be a stray cat at the veterinarian's in terms of how personally and forcefully they take on your care.
13.) toxophilite - 04/28/2013
well, saw deerminator in hospital today, his doc is trying to stableize deerminators blood work and if all goes well they plan to do a biopsy monday, keep your fingers crossed and with any luck we will have him back and posting his Friday videos befor you know it.
14.) Leighton - 04/29/2013
Thinking of you and hoping all turns out for the best.:tu:
15.) toxophilite - 05/02/2013
they did a biopsy on deerminators bone marrow, now waiting for test results
16.) Swamp Fox - 05/02/2013
Bumping this up...
17.) bluecat - 05/02/2013

30.) Deerminator - 05/13/2013
TADAAAAA!!! Just so ya know this putter is kinda jacked all of a sudden I have no spell checker. AND goggel and abdobe is still screwing with my e-mail.
I'm just going to get a lap top. Hope ya can make out everyting.

They got me out of the hospital last saterday. But the crack pot Dr that took over for MY Dr that was on leave sent me out so I calld the breack out off.
I'll get to some of the crazy stuff that went on while I was in there. I'll say for now is i't doesen't matter if your 2 or 200. Farts are funnny.

Before I bring you up to date I'd like to apolligise for not getting on soner. As some of us know, you can really feel a lifting in the sperit from all the
love and support from friends, family, relitivse and all you goobers. It's really amazing. THANKS

The up date;
I have a form of limfatic cancer. My doctors say that if your going to have a cancaer this is the one to have. It's HIGHLY treatable and HIGHLY curable.
There's been pro hocky players and baseball players that have had it and have gone on to great carrers. My Dr had it when he was in his 20's He's fins now.
All my blood work is clean and my body is up and running doing everything a normal, ( concidering what i have ) and fighting off the attack.

Here's a twist to the whole thing. At the same time all this is going on I have a brocken tooth. Hurts like a muther. I go to the dentist and have it fixed. But ther's seems to be a piece of root still at the bottem. Great.
Well now I have a new unfited lower denture. This has been like 3-4days of not eating cause I can't chew. Now I'm in the hospital with a un fitted denture and I still can't eat. Figuer the hospital has to have some sort of dentistry lab.....But after 3 more days I find out NO THEY DON"T. Incert some very bad language. So I have Sweetie bring in my die file kit and fit them myself.
I can chew again WOOHOO!, but there stilll that matter of a piece of root stilll in there so I'll have to go back at some time. So that didn't help in the wait loss department. Figuer I've lost arounr 20lbs. I'm gaining that back but gaining the loss of the mussle mass is slow. My Dr says just to eat and keep eating don't stop. And I'm doing my best to compleat my task :-) No diet restrictions of any kind.

Oh yea, Info is slow and yea have to stay on top of things. I have to go in for another scan and the after that a treatment will be figured out. The biopsy they did on my chest, ( just local )
Was kinda cool. story for another time.

Well that's it folks Thanks for the love and support I can really feel it. And as I mentioned at the top. This putter is kinda jacked

Yap atchya later.
31.) Triton Rich - 05/13/2013
Good to hear from you Buddy! It is quite a relief to hear that it is a treatable form of cancer, still frightening to hear as I'm sure it was for you. Hope your treatment all goes well and that that tooth gets fixed so you can properly pig out! Hang in there Deerminator!
32.) Pa bowhunter - 05/13/2013
:pray: for you, and hope all the treatments go well, keep us up to date..
33.) luv2bowhunt - 05/13/2013
Plenty of time to recover before archery season. Then you can start whacking the spikes and 4 pts. :tu:

I'll even give you a pass this season on the spikes, just cause I'm nice.
34.) toxophilite - 05/20/2013
:pray:sorry to have to report deerminator has taken a turn for the worse and is back in the hospital

37.) Jon - 05/20/2013
CRAP, hate to hear that. Hospitals will kill you, get the heck out of there.
38.) luv2bowhunt - 05/20/2013
I was in a hospital once, they would wake you up to give you sleeping pills.

Agree with Jon, run like the wind, come up with natural medicine if possible. Get well soon!!
39.) Swamp Fox - 05/20/2013
If there's any reason to think a doctor isn't up to the task, find another doctor VDQ. Don't let someone "practice" medicine when you should be working with someone who already knows what to do, right off, and right away.

I hate to put it that way, but days and weeks matter.
40.) billy b - 05/20/2013
Prayers are still coming your way Deerminator
41.) Jag - 05/21/2013

Toxo: Do you think we could get Deerminator's address either in the hospital at home? I'm sure there are electronic Get-Well cards, too, if we had an addy, but I'll bet he's not checking his email...Too busy watching Sponge Bob on the TV at the nurse's station....:-)
63.) Hunter - 05/28/2013
Come on, D. You need to get better soon!!

66.) Hunter - 05/31/2013
Thanks for the updates. Continued prayers coming from here! Looking forward to Dave posting here soon!
67.) luv2bowhunt - 05/31/2013
Tell him I started a thread about how people who shoot deer just for meat are losers and shouldn't even be given a hunting license.

That ought to piss him off enough to get better and back on here.
68.) Go Bucks - 05/31/2013
lets go D!!!
69.) Ventilator - 05/31/2013
Thats great that he is making progress!!! Glad to hear it.

93.) billy b - 06/19/2013
Thanks, prayers are with him.
94.) Deerminator - 06/20/2013
Howdy Folks
I seem to have got some control over this new lap top.

Was at the DR today and they are jumping with joy at my progress. I'm gaining WT and getting stronger.
The cemo doesn't seem to be effecting me at all. Don't no what all the hub bub is about.
I have a ravenous hunger so nothing is safe around here.
The DR even said I could have a drink or 2 a day. We were talking booz. Beer, mixers. I'm sending Sweetie to the stor for some rum
for my cokes.

All the prayers and support are working. Can't put into words how great full I am to receive so many.
Thank you all so much.

The one thing that is killing me is how slow it is getting back my strength. It's a slow, slow process the DR tell me.
Just eat rest and the physical theropy.

Well that about sums up the up date.
95.) DParker - 06/20/2013
Hey man, it's about time!!! I'm glad to hear that you're home, starting to feel a bit better and are in such good spirits...not even counting the rum. :wink

That ravenous hunger sure sounds like a good sign. :tu:
96.) BULLZ-i - 06/20/2013
VERY GOOD TO HEAR. KEEP WORKING ON YOUR STRENGTH LITTLE BY LITTLE, DEER SEASON AINT THAT FAR OFF. CHEERS TO YOU FEELING BETTER, BUT DONT STOP NOW... HAVE ANOTHER DRINK :tu:
97.) Hunter - 06/20/2013
Great news, D! I love your recovery plan - eatin' & drinkin'!! :tu:
98.) Triton Rich - 06/20/2013
Great to hear from you Deerminator! Sounds like things are coming along nicely, awesome!
99.) luv2bowhunt - 06/20/2013
You're going to need that strength back to drag the monster buck out you're going to shoot this year. Nah, don't bother dragging it, just call me if you get when and I'll send the sasquatch in to do the heavy work.

Great to hear from you again old friend!!!:tu:
100.) bluecat - 06/20/2013
Yipee! Glad to hear you are in good spirits and getting stronger. Miss you around these parts. DParker is taking over and it is really annoying.

He's the new BULLZ-i.......only more compact and better smelling.
105.) DParker - 06/20/2013
It's been many years since I've been accused of being compact (unless that's in reference to the increased volume-to-surface-area efficiency one gains as one approaches a spherical shape).

Come to think of it...."better smelling" doesn't have a really familiar ring to it either.
106.) Leighton - 06/20/2013
So glad that you are on the mend D , I hope it won't take too long before you are back to normal again.:tu:

Deerminator, I hope you're enjoying the cool weather up there. The last 2 days have been picture perfect in the Northeast. Had to wear a sweatshirt yesterday morning, 52 degrees.
109.) billy b - 06/21/2013
Yea, I had to wear one too, 101.7 on my therometer with a nice cool breeze. Now I'm going fishing for a few hours.

The healing process is slow. I feel great. But my body is missing the mussel mass to do stuff.
That's the slow part of the process. It's astounding how fast the body will eat it self while how slow it rebuilds.
Aside from that I feel great. Like my normal self.:hb:

Have you seen the new shotgun from Kel Tec?

Send me some sausage. I'm eating everything now days.

Didn't get to make any of my venison sausage this/last year. Bummer
I like sausage that doesn't have a lot of salt in it. Cheese, some garlic but not over loaded.
Had sausage, peppers and onions the other day. MMMMM that was good. Not enough left overs though.

Come to think about it all of our old stuff is new again cause all the threads and pics are gone. Speaking of old pics.
Was it Dino that started a thread with old pics one time? That was kinda cool. The old hunt'n camps and stuff. They didn't wear camo and had the long bows and old guns.
157.) luv2bowhunt - 06/26/2013
Yeah it was dino. That's when I scanned a few old ones from the 70's and 80's in.

Life was simpler then, without the smart phones, internet, or prostate exams.
158.) Deerminator - 07/02/2013
Anyone have any questions about my experience with the cancer, hospital or being struck down at 58 yrs old and fighting back?
I had nuemonia (SP), in my left lung as well. I was close to kicking the bucket there for a short time. Went through some emotional
times. Lost 60lbs.

Currently I feel great. Just like my normal every day self. Just lost so much mussel mass I can't do much yet. I'm getting stronger by the day and can see my weight coming back. I can walk around pretty good. Uneven ground is a little tricky but if I go slow I can handle it.

( I got to get spell checker loaded )

The weight loss was not noticeable at first. ( wasn't looking for it. Just going about daily life ) Also there was a rapid increase of lumps on my shoulders and enlargement of some lumps on my back. The first few lumps appeared 10yrs ago.The DR said they were fatty sists (sp) nothing to worry about, very common. At that time nothing else was wrong with me I was as healthy as a horse. Well that wasn't the case as time went on. With the additional lumps and weight loss Sweetie made an appointment for me and that is when the DR said cancer. Then I knew something serious was going on.

I am the type that never gets sick. If I got a cold it was rare. If I got hurt I healed up fast. Never went to or had to go to a DR. So I never looked or even had it in my head that anything could be wrong. The whole thing snuck up on me so slowly and quietly it was never noticed. Al though the first look from a Dr 10yrs ago should have been looked at a lot closer. I would recommend yearly check ups or at least a Dr visit every now and then cause cancer seems to sneak up so slowly that ya don't know ya got it until it's on ya. And some cancers are a hell of a lot worse that others.
174.) Deerminator - 07/03/2013
LOL...

Adding to Rich's answer;
Here in Syracuse we are lucky to have some of the best doctors, best equipment and techknowlogy avalible. ( dam spelling ). So that in itself is a BIG PLUS. Many places around the country ya might not be so lucky. if you don't have a doctor in your pocket your stuck with the way things are.
Bottom line.
When your in the hospital things can get very frustrating. Information gets very hard to come by. Ya have to keep in mind that hospitals are run just like a production line in a factory. So the care you get isn't going to be like mom would give you. Not even close. Some nurses are better than others. Some should be shot while others are like guardian angles. If your difficult the nurses will be as well. It pays to be nice to them. Save them an extra ice cream or soda. Stuff like that. They hear thank you all the time so anything extra can mean a little more to them than the everyday thank you.
When a lead DR on the production line or your DR has time off and another steps in things can get very screwed up. It's very important to keep aware of what is going on with the treatments and plans of your doctor. Just like getting a new foreman on the job site. I highly recommend a person of trust to help monitor and keep an eye on things like treatment and medications. A note book is a valuable tool. If your the one with the cancer you have too much on your mind to keep track of anything much less everything.

The rapid loss of weight didn't happen until the cancer really hit me and I was in the hospital. Your body will literaly eat itself while your laying in the bed. Ya can't stop it.
Ya can't get up, ya can't get comfortable. Your stuck in the bed, squirming around, getting bed sores, getting grungy. Hospital food generaly sucks but ya have to eat some thing. One of my big problems was the thrush that develops from the treatments. That and my denture situation made it impossible to eat which made things very bad for me.
I couldn't eat because of a broken tooth and dentures that didn't fit. Which happened just as the cancer hit me. Great timing. Not that that could have stopped the weight loss but it made everything a lot worse.
The weight loss really, really scared me to death. I figured I was a goner. I couldn't get a dentise to work on me because of the thrush in my mouth
so I figured I was doomed. Made my peace with god, fellow man and the universe. And I'm dead serious when I say I figured I was doomed. Went through some emotional times right there. And I also went through some time where I was delirious as well. It got scary, no lie. I met my maker 2 times. Each time I told him that I wasn't afraid to die, I just wasn't going yet. I was going to fight and stay alive no matter what. I mentioned before that in the very beginning of my hospital stay when I got my mind around what was happening to me that I actuwally felt a surge in my life force. All the support and love from all my friends, family and you guys. It was weird cause I'm not that religious but there it was.
If I didn't have problems with my teeth and would have been able to eat better things would have been better but that just wasn't the case. I've gained 15lbs in the last 2 weeks since I found my upper plate. It was the lower denture that I had problems with and fixed it with my die file set while in the hospital. Lost the upper some how. That was the killer. Found it about 2 1/2 weeks ago hiding in my hospital bag. ???????? So up until that point my body turned things around with the help of the medication pretty much all by it self and now that I can eat there's rapid improvement.
Regaining my mussel, (SP)( I gota fix that. I tried downloading one but it didn't take then I tried google spellchecker and it didn't take. later I'll try again:bang: ), mass is very slow. Then I have to put strength back into the mussel. again very slow. Having so much extra skin around my arms and legs and chest. Kinda looks just like I got out of prison camp. Not something ya want to see.

Up date from last visit;

I'm do'n great according to the Doc. Everything is going as planned and even better than planned.
I asked about after the chemo treatment ends. In some cases it seems that soon after the chemo ends the cancer comes back and the person is soon pushing up daisies.

He said that looking at my statistics that I'm in the upper 70% success rate and that my trend of recovery, weight gain and blood work put me in the 90% full remission category. WOOHOO! I have 3 more chemo treatments left. My future looks so bright I better wear shades:grin:

Todays report from the Dr.

Still doing super great. Blood work is better than anything and they are just jumping for joy at my progress.
Lots of hugs of happiness cause when they first saw me I was in such bad shape, ( deaths door really ). Now I'm kick'n ass and full of life.
I have a scan next week that will show if there is any live or dead cancer left in me. I think they feel it might be dead cause of my progress. I'm half way through my chemo and this scan will determine what other chemicals they will or will not put in me.
Still kinda week in the knees but that's changing. I can handle stairs and uneven surfaces much better now. Still looking into more physical therapy. It was nice having a therapist come over and help me with exercises, form and stuff like that.

And when I'm back fully in the saddle again look out cause I just might visit some of you goobers.:ach: I got SS and disability money coming :hb:

The other day I had a pep or pet scan ( they say it so fast I don't know which it is :-) ) anywho.
It's a scan designed to look for live cancer cells. Ya get an injection of radioactive juice and then wait 1 hour in
the quiet room. A closet with a chair in it. Don't know why:cf: Then ya go into the scanning machine.
The results showed negligible live cells. The doc says I'm one of the miracle ones. Weight is up a couple more pounds
and still getting stronger every day. Got chemo tomorrow and then 2 more treatments and I'm done. WOOHOO!

A quick up date.
I broke 150lbs. I am 151lbs and change, WOOHOO!...I was talking with the doc and complaining that even though I'm working out I don't seem to be getting stronger like I should.. She said it was the chemo. What they like to do is do 2 additional chemo sessions after the cancer is gone. I just had my second to last treatment today. So in about 6-7 weeks the last treatment will take place and all the chemo should be out of me and my strength will come back. OH BABY!.......So until that time I'll keep working out the best I can. I'm enrolled in an exersize program at the Y designed for cancer recovery patents. Can't wait to start. I want to get my body back to look'n like CroOkEdEyE's again.:-)
The gals that run the chemo sessions seem amazed at how I'm so unaffected by the treatments. I'm on the 5th treatment and I show only some small signs of hair loss and some mussel fatuge ( dam spell checker ), and soreness. I still have a lot of hair on top although my stash has thinned a lot and my eyebrows to. My beard has stopped growing as well as all my hair. There is another place where he hair has thinned A whole lot. The jungle that surrounded the monitor has thinned.
I now look like a well hung 12 yr old :ek:

Update before last chemo treatment. It's next week. Well It seems like the only real effects of the chemo have been weird taste bud flavors,
aches and pains in the mussels, hip and knee joints, and some minor hair loss. Nothing like a lot of people get. After the last chemo session all the aches and mussel pains got worst. Called the Doc and it's all related to the chemo. GREAT It's rough without the pain pills. Joints and mussels get REALY sore. I guess this last session will make it even worst. GREAT
The doc thinks I should be back to myself around Thanksgiving, not sure what they mean by that....GREAT I was hoping to put up my ground blind this month. Guess I'll just have to play it by feel. Hope I can get the Gym workouts to speed things up.
The other evening I was carrying a dinner plate and holding the knife and fork with the fingers. Well I tell the fingers to let go of the knife and nothing happens. Had to kinda shake my hand around and then they let go. The weakness in my hands is very frustrating. This last round of chemo should be interesting. GREAT

UPDATE:

It's been a while since I've responded to this thread so here's an update.
I just came back from the DR's.........Let me go back to just before the holidays.
I've had some blood work, scans and a few visits to the Dr office. The last pet scan showed 2 small spots of interest.
They could not tell what they were but wanted to biop each spot. Just incase. Now these spots were very tiny with no associated ump or anything.
If the cancer comes back normally the patent feels week looks lousy that kind of stuff. I've been feeling great and still gaining weight. I'm 170 now, just 10LBS off my normal wt.
Much stronger now as well so I knew the results would come back negative. But there's always that outside chance it could come back positive. Which would
have meant bone marrow transplant which is the next step in the process if necessary.
The test results of the biopsies were negative. My Dr was hugging me and we were all big smiles and stuff. Now I just have to wait for the stitches to come out of my back where they did the biop and I can go back to pumping some iron.
Also I am using this opportunity to butter up Sweetie. I'm getting a whole new rig for hunting this year. I'm eyeballing the tour by Elite. $$$$
Can't wait. It will be a few weeks yet cause I'm also looking at the Carbon Knight.

But that's the update. I've batteled cancer and the cemo and kicked there ass.

I shot the carbon knight this past weekend at the NY sportmans show...pretty sweeeet shooter.
242.) Jon - 01/30/2014
Not too light Chris?
243.) Wild Bob - 01/30/2014
Hang in there. Glad you're feeling some better!
244.) CHRIS - 01/30/2014
Jon, I thought the light weight would expose a bunch of unwanted shock but it didn't(even being set up at 30.5 draw/70lb) Really smooth draw. Quite a bit different bow than my old Allegiance that's for sure. Wanted to shoot the new RPM360 and Carbon Overdrive but they had no lefty, long draw length.
245.) JimP - 01/30/2014
Awesome news D!!
