1.) Swamp Fox - 01/27/2014
....of something cool to do with a decent rack and skull plate. I should have taken the whole skull for a European, but that's not what I did, for some reason.

I've seen a skull plate wrapped in a two-tone weave of leather strips...I think I'd prefer a single tone...but it's still kinda neat.
2.) DParker - 01/27/2014
I sent you a video of things you can't do with a decent rack. Does that count? You know...process of elimination and all that? No? OK, here then...

Trophies on top of trophies..

Something a little edgier if you ditch the cap...
3.) Deerminator - 01/27/2014
Turn it into a Christmas ornament for next year or a door knocker.
4.) Swamp Fox - 01/27/2014
I do like arrowhead plaques.

I don't think I can pull off the metal skull with this rack. If it were taller or curved in more I think it would look better mounted that way. This rack is somewhat squat. Good width, alright mass and tines that "could be longer" LOL.

Then you can spend the rest of your days trying to use this one...

"What knockers!"

"Oh, thank you Doctor."

7.) Swamp Fox - 01/27/2014
That's an excellent idea!

I think I could pull it off. It's just a question of where to wear it first...

BTW, I've always wanted a full-blown Plains Indian war bonnet. The nice ones are not cheap, but how cool is this?

8.) DParker - 01/27/2014

Any public land unit on opening day of the local rifle season...or you haven't got a hair.
9.) Triton Rich - 01/27/2014
Mount it on a plaque of your choosing but have it at such an angle so that the antlers are more upright like a European mount. They look more impressive in a more natural position like that.

born in Illinois?
11.) Swamp Fox - 01/27/2014
Yes, that's the one. Been trying to come up with a good idea for it all this while...LOL

One of my favorite Far Side Cartoons:

Hunter husband to wife: "Honey, this is great! You got me an antler hat!"

Or some such...You can't find the cartoons on line anywhere.

Good point/idea...Maybe on a flat stone with a fake full-skull (Mountain Mike's), or in a small box with vegetation, as if the antlers are peaking up out of the undergrowth. Both wall-mounted with perpendicular pedestals....
14.) Swamp Fox - 01/27/2014
I think whenever I might get back in the mountains again, I'll look for some smooth, flat river rock. I think this mount will go on the wall, which the rock might be too heavy for, and the deer wasn't killed near a rocky stream, anyway. But maybe a good rock will come in handy for the future. Some of them are pretty cool-looking, maybe even with a wet finish, if that could be pulled off. Now I just need some table or shelf space, LOL.

I'm liking the idea of hiding the rack in vegetation, or as if it's coming though a tangle and that's all you can see...

Just need a few extra props I don't have handy right now for something like this:

15.) Ventilator - 01/27/2014
You dont have a NC mtn lion handy? Maybe a black version?
16.) Swamp Fox - 01/27/2014
LOL...
17.) Wild Bob - 01/28/2014
Have several racks that I have attached to cool pieces of drift wood that I found over the years. Rustic but yet not the same old same old. I don't have any pictures of those handy, but I'm sure you can get the idea.
18.) Floyd - 01/28/2014
Swampy, just leave it in the back of the Bronco. Or, you can mount it on the front of the Bronco. Or, there might, might, have room to mount it on the dashboard.
19.) Swamp Fox - 01/28/2014
Nope, sorry, the dashboard is committed. :wink

The rack's a little too nice to be riding around on the grill in the Carolinas...Though I have thought about Texas steer horns several times.....
20.) Swamp Fox - 01/28/2014
I wonder why the picture of the war bonnet on Page 1 shows up on this end as an x in a black box half the time?

The other half of the time I can see it just fine.
21.) Deerminator - 01/28/2014
Perhaps make it into a CD player. Open the mouth, and slide a Rob Zombie disc in and kick back:hb:
22.) Floyd - 01/28/2014
Give Txhunter a call, he can make them into lamps or something for you.
23.) Floyd - 01/28/2014
Mount them on your bike's handlebars.
24.) bluecat - 01/28/2014

If animals had raunchy sex novels then this picture be on the cover entitled "Forbidden Love".

"Oh Beauregard, you're so strong and virile, take me now before I change my mind."
25.) DParker - 01/28/2014
"Mommy...why is that big kitty nibbling on Bambi's neck the way that Daddy nibbles on Aunt Suzy's neck when you're not home?"
26.) Swamp Fox - 01/28/2014
Give Txhunter a call, he can make them into lamps or something for you.
Is he still above ground? Last I heard of him was when he wanted in the deer contest...and then POOF...

Bike handlebars would be another good idea (aside from the risk of impaling myself when I hit a rut in the dark :tap:) but unfortunately I have a bow/gun rack up there, plus lights, so the handlebar is just as committed as the dashboard, LOL.

"Hunter impaled by bike horns....News at 11..."
27.) Deerminator - 01/29/2014
Antlers, not Horns:groan:
28.) Swamp Fox - 01/29/2014
The joke doesn't work with "antlers." :wink

What are you, from Scotland? :-)

Why, is he wearing a skirt? (Man, that used to really get her goat.)
30.) Deerminator - 01/30/2014
Sure It'll work with antlers.
It's all in the delivery
31.) Swamp Fox - 01/30/2014
Bike antlers? :cf:

"Snozberries? Who ever heard of a snozberry?":wink

32.) Floyd - 01/30/2014
Build something with antlers for all those cats.
33.) Swamp Fox - 01/30/2014
Like a back scratcher! I could get, like, six of them at once...:-)

If they'd stand still...Scooty little buggers. Most of them are just here for the Friskies. :wink
34.) Floyd - 01/30/2014
Ah, how about mobile art of cats and antlers?
35.) DParker - 01/30/2014
Ah, how about mobile art of cats and antlers?
How about cats with antlers?

36.) bluecat - 01/30/2014

"I would but the damn cat is in the way."
