Funniest claim from the article:
Proponents compare smart guns to automobile air bags — a transformative add-on that gun owners will demand.
Oh, yeah. I don't know how many times I've asked myself, "When will firearms manufactures offer me the ability to buy a 10-round .22 self-defense pistol for ~$2,000 and that can be rendered useless by any one of the following...

1. A dead battery in the gun.
2. Malfunctioning electronics in the gun.
3. A dead battery in the wrist watch.
4. Malfunctioning electronics in the wristwatch.
5. A cheap RF jammer.
6. Not having enough time to put on the watch and successfully enter a PIN during those groggy wee-hours home invasion scenarios."

Yes-sirree-Bob. There's some pent-up market demand just waiting to be satisfied. The other source of amusement for me was...
The cost is high. Amatrix’s iP1, a .22-caliber pistol, is priced at $1,399 — plus $399 for the watch. A .40-caliber Glock handgun can be had for about $600.
Comparing the cost of a .22 with a .40 cal Glock is silly enough as it is. Now compare it with the numerous dependable, and far more useful for self-defense options that can be had for < $400.

Crazy stuff right there

i'm gonna guess the "demand" will be "vehemently encouraged" by some form of government.
