No, no, no, no. Snake meat is very delicate, like fish. You need to lightly bread and quickly fry it, else it dries out.
4.) NEBigAl - 02/26/2014
Snakes are cool! Why you getting rid of em?
5.) Triton Rich - 02/26/2014
Wow, that is quite a specimen! Westerns don't get much bigger than that. While I'm not against removing a few nuisance snakes, I'm not wild about the wholesale slaughter of them. I believe they do have a place.
6.) Floyd - 02/26/2014
....... never heard of a rattlesnake shortage in Texas.

That is one thing I've never eaten but hope to someday.

Kill or be killed?

The copperheadedrattlecottonmoccasin place to test the faith and believe of man (preachers)?

I don't think snakes understand live and let live.

And the preacher's son said what?

Be safe than sorry Hunter.

The snake guy said that they are not holding the roundup this year. It has been losing too much money.

The biggest one was about 5 1/2 feet. The snake guys call us wanting permission to come catch snakes. It is impossible to have a wholesale slaughter as much as I would like to! Like Floyd said, there is NO shortage of rattlers!

No, it's on like Donkey Kong!

Some of the roundups in the Southeast have been shut down or converted to catch and release because they don't want eastern diamondbacks harassed.

Remember the father and son preacher duo killed by rattlers a few years ago? Not sure there is a charitable explanation. See Post 26:

I don't remember if I posted about about the big canebrake rattler I came across late last Oct. or early November. He was sunning under a big oak 20 yards from one of Floyd's treestand locations. I had plenty of time to size him up at between 5.5 to 6 feet long, which is a big 'un for sure. In fact, that size doesn't get any bigger, as my uncle used to say. Wish I'd had a camera...

See if you can find the eastern diamondback in this picture:

Ummm..why u let it live swampster? It may get Floyd on the azz next time.
19.) Ventilator - 02/26/2014
and what about your phone camera....u leave it at camp?
20.) Jon - 02/27/2014
When I was stationed at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, we used to play war games at Brooks AFB. A week prior to going out there, we would go put rat poison in the bunkers to kill the rattlers so they wouldn't mess with us. I was stunned to see the size of the snakes we'd have to go recover. Some were in the 5-6' range. Between the snakes and fire ants, we didn't have to worry too much about much else.
Ummm..why u let it live swampster?
It cuts down on the tourists. :wink I find that if I tell people I saw a few vipers, or that everything's under water, or that the mosquitoes are doing a blood drive, it eliminates most of my competition.

Plus I didn't want to have to fight him to get my arrow back when I "missed it by that much." :wink
It may get Floyd on the azz next time.
Snakes are tough. It would probably survive, so I'm not that concerned. Besides, I don't think I can coax Floyd back for a second visit even if I promise to feed him better.
and what about your phone camera....u leave it at camp?
I wasn't expecting any calls, so yeah... LOL. Plus I never think about a camera being on a phone, anyway. Just can't get it through my head. :-)
22.) Jon - 03/04/2014
Flip phones from 1990 didn't have cameras
23.) Swamp Fox - 03/04/2014
I miss rotary phones...Seems like people behaved better when they had to answer the phone to get anything done. LOL

Flip phones from 1990 didn't even have flip phones.
