Uh ...

You've got the backyard hack

You've got the backyard entrepreneur

and then ...

You have the manufacturer.

Last but not least, you have the backyard product tester

So let me ask y'all ... would you use this product?
2.) DParker - 03/17/2014
Only if I was filming First Blood IV (or whatever that franchise would be up to now). Otherwise I can't think of a single good use for it. I also wouldn't be handling it in such a way that it could blow a hole through my hand if it malfunctioned while screwing it onto an arrow. But maybe that's just me.
3.) Deerminator - 03/17/2014
Since there are no real rules for small game arrows here in NY. I could use them on small game.
Turkey even. Same with carp. HMMMMMMM, carp shoot'n with explosive heads.:grin:
4.) DParker - 03/17/2014
Except that your state (and in fact most states) would almost certainly consider an arrow equipped with such a device to be a firearm, with all of the hunting regulations that go along with that.
5.) Deerminator - 03/17/2014
True
Better off useing M-80's then
6.) bluecat - 03/17/2014
I don't see the point...:wink
7.) DParker - 03/17/2014
There's no barrel for the bullet to accelerate through, so the only velocity it's going to have is the arrow's and whatever little boost it gets being pushed out of the case by the powder charge (which doesn't even reliably ignite, it appears). And that's assuming there's enough stout metal surrounding the case to prevent it from just rupturing. So what's the point? If you can hit something with an arrow you'll do far more damage with a good broadhead than with this toy.

A dumb idea all around.
8.) bluecat - 03/17/2014
Also what about the oops factor? You drop an arrow by accident. Not good.

Even if this were totally safe and it actually worked (see DParkers explanation above) I still wouldn't want to do it. At this point it no longer is archery but a guidance system for a firearm.
9.) Jon - 03/17/2014
Imagine the FOC of that arrow? Not interested
10.) DParker - 03/17/2014
{nit-picking}

And...that boy needs to learn the difference between a "bullet" and a "cartridge".

{/nit-picking}

It also appears to have broken itself on the first shot.

I just got around to watching the first couple of videos too, as well as perusing Rac-Em-Bac's other offerings. The amateur stuff just screams "Hold my beer and watch this", while the Rac-Em-Bac "products" are the perfect solution to the I-have-more-disposable-income-than-sense problem.

Hilarious! :laugh: Kinda what I was thinkin. Can you imagine the product liability insurance? Oh wait ... there probably isn't any.

The thing I had to ask myself after watching the first video was, "Do I really want to take explosive projectile construction advice from someone who tells me to use a 'hoby' knife?"
14.) bluecat - 03/21/2014
I'm still trying to figure out how to "instert" the plug.

I don't know, but just make sure you do that before you "pure" the hot glue in.
